I'm thinking, as cool as built in kneepads are, this screams "SHOOT AT ME I HAVE LOTS OF COOL STUFF!"

I'm thinking looking like a homeless person or some older milsurp stuff?

Jeans and/or khaki cargo pants, hiking boots or some tan Wellco ripple soles, tucked in tan BDU shirt with the bottom pockets relocated to the sleeves. Pistol on the hip or in a thigh rig depending on how my "tactifools anonymous" meetings are working.

However, if the shit is really flying the body armor, helmet, rifle, and pack are really going to advertise lots of cool shit for the taking.

Probably jeans and a T-shirt, maybe a polo.

Hmmm....would it be awkward if we are wearing the same thing?

You can't wear the hip belt from your ruck with a pistol on your hip:p

Probably jeans and a T-shirt, maybe a polo.

Polo?

True, however my neato pack has webbing on the hip belt that would work fine for a holster. That way I can more easily lose control of a handgun if I dump my ruck in an ambush or some such.

As for awkward, I'll have a fedora on, so we won't clash too much.(a real one, not the faggoty trendy narrow brim ones)

I'll be looking as grey and non threatening as possible. Anonymous refuge with civilian exterior.

Many a tactical wet dream will be ruined by a redneck with a deer rifle. "look unimportant, they might be low on ammo".

Once bugged out and in place I will be more geared up as needed. Not getting there looking like a threat. If I have to get home on foot I have a 20 mile walk.

depends on what im planning on doing.

more than likely i will be in my MARPATs. they are the most comfortable for climbing, running, etc etc with a load on your back. plus, you can pack a weeks worth of food in the cargo pockets alone! haha

I'll swap my shorts and flip flops for canvas pants and heavier boots.

But otherwise probably whatever I'm wearing at the time if things go bad.

this in itself could be taken as a threat.

they may see you as a waste of the possible food supply for themselves.

if someone is looting, they want to eliminate the competition and if you look like a looter, they may eliminate you.

really is a tough decision...try to blend in and not stand out, act as is you have nothing worth taking and you are not worth wasting ammo on.

some local boys were having this very discussion a few weekends ago, one suggested shooting ANYONE seen on the street. I asked why, his reply was, competition for resources. never thought of that one.

not knowing him would get that response...since I know him, I was slightly amazed he said it.

I doubt he would last a week in a REAL SHTF situation. Basically lives at McDs...only gun he owns is a Magpul/Larue AR...not sure if he has ever really shot it(like at a target or animal) other than wasting ammo trying to shortstroke it in teh field behind his house.

Synthetics, mostly patagucci.
I have lived out of it for weeks, I know I can walk/travel miles in it, and I know it holds up to abuse.

Probably my usual attire - jeans, steel-toed workshoes, longsleeve T (or golf shirt), maybe a maybe baseball cap, a leather belt, and a Blackhawk Serpa holster for my 1911.

In my pockets are usually a folding knife, keys, flashlight, Blackberry, wallet, and an extra 1911 magazine. If I have time to grab it and I think things might get really ugly, I could also throw on the body armor and grab my BOB.

My number 1 concern is functionality. I need to be realistic. I'm probably not going to have time to dress for the occasion, so what I wear will be an adaptation of my usual dress. I don't think I'll have time to do much more than grab some gear and go. If I need to wear body armor I'll wear it, but that shit's heavy and uncomfortable.

Jesus Christ you guys make me laugh so fucking hard. I think you're giving arfcom a run for their money right now. Do you fuckers really have an outfit picked out for a SHTF scenario? Seriously, the BOBs are one thing, having a couple hundred rounds around is one thing, but this is too much. I'm about to die laughing over here.

I'll be in whatever I have on that day. I'll have a pistol with me as I always do, and probably a pair of boots on if it's winter or sandals if it's any other time. You guys are way too tacticool for me...

DJ I have to make fun of you now, this is too easy.

If SHTF, I don't think there will be much planning. And your choice is based on that they're comfortable for climbing? DJ, I climb every weekend with a guy who climbs technical free routes in the New River Gorge in Carhartts. I think you can stand to climb a short wall in blue jeans.

You guys make Sloth from the Goonies look normal.

Haha, I know it's crazy, but I Always have my shit packed in my Alice pack ready to go.

I have a disaster plan made out already, priorities and shit.

depending on the weather and shit, one of the ways out is using the vast waterways that snake around the area I live in. But it's easy to divert if blocked or something.

Biggest thing is food ammo shelter and power...but family is always very high on that list somwhere.

when SHTF I'll be on my 50 acres in BFE. Thus, I'll be wearing what I normally wear there. Carhartt pants, and a t-shirt. if it's cold a jacket or insulatted flannel.

When SHTF and I'm there, there will be more things to worry about than being tacticool and shooting people. I'll be fishing, hunting, cooking, dehydrating, pumping water out of the well before power goes out, and purifying lake water. I'll have a Mini-14 nearby and a CZ-75 on my waist, but that's about it.

Tacticool stuff is bullshit if you don't have the assets to survive by yourself first.

My BOB doubles as my "extra clothes in case I fall in a lake" bag. Yeah, it's happened, I work around water a lot. I also keep extra every day snack foods- they get used and rotated often. Making it into something that I use daily ensures that I keep it accessible at all times- home or traveling.

That said I tend to keep a pair of cargo khaki pants(zipoffs in summer), 2 shirts, socks, underwear(in case SHTU). I tend to wear shoes or boots that I don't mind walking or running in- wife's bag is getting a pair of walking shoes because women don't tend to wear things they can walk 10 miles in.

Little or no camo- don't want to stand out being full camo. Not a camo bag- just a generic backpack. Don't want to stand out in a crowd.

I don't have the time, money, or desire to wear a bunch of camo tacticool bullshit. If the SHTF, I'll be wearing a t-shirt, jeans or khakis of some kind, and some comfy-ass shoes. I'll be toting a backpack filled with homework and tactical art supplies.

I'll walk/drive my ass home and hole up.

Depending on the situation I would have to choose between staying home or heading out for a 6 hour drive. If I have time to leave I'll probably have time to change into some jeans, my "I have nunchuck skills" shirt and boots. However, I tend to assume that if the SHTF it would be during the day and I would be wearing a shirt, tie, and slacks. Hopefully I would be able to swap out the dress shoes to Vans and get my ass home.

Charcoal suit, white shirt, yellow "power" tie w/ chain style restraining device, black 1" dress belt, black socks and wingtips. I'll be the guy moving down the street looking like a cross between Fred Astaire and a SWAT guy with a cricket. Striking fear into men and women alike and causing and happenstance homoghey dance critics to suffer myocardial infarctions.

Alternately it will be my tux, bowtie, and cufflinks, and full battle rattle. While smartly moving along someone will be observing me through their scope and just before it breaks they will stop and ask themselves "WTF was this guy and what was he doing in a Tux when he decided that he needed to be in full battle rattle and moving out?" giving me just enough time to slip away with my Daisy Powerline 990. :ninja:
