: what fluid for a 727 TF

hey, i have a 727 in my jeep that i took out of a 78 power wagon. i was wondering what you guys think is the best fluid for the transmissions. thanks for any input, scott

i'm not an auto guy, but i would think a synthetic dextron mercon would help prevent against contamination(water, dirt). anyone really know? :D

Actually, mine is blue. :flipoff2: When I went through my 727 there was a bunch of B&M fluid on the shelf at the local AutoZone for about the same price as everything else, so I used it. It seems to work and I have no complaints. Most shop manuals, owner's manuals etc recommend Dextron. B&M recommends either Type F or their own special blue juice. I've heard of a guy putting a rock through the pan, patching it with something, and then filling the tranny up with straight 10w engine oil and driving it home -several hundred miles- with no adverse effects. (This was some years ago. ;))
