: Hydraulic ram ?

Do the ports have to be on top? It realy will not work well with the setup that i am planning. And i have no other options.

I figure i will take the ram off its mounts and point the ports up to bleed the system, and once it is bled it should not build up air because the ports are sidways. Right? I figure it is better than down. Which also is not an option.
If you look at a back hoe or tractor or any industial farming crap there are so many rams in so many different positions, that the ports can't always be on top.

I will give it a shot but what do you experts say.

Station you out there, i don't think anyone knows more on the topic.

Yep, I agree, it SHOULD bleed just fine either way. It might take temporarily pointing the ports up -as you mentioned- depending on the cylinder that you have.
