Ok, so i'm looking at getting a new, probably crate motor 360.
I may look around first for a wrecked Dakota R/T to pull it from, then i could grab the wiring harness etc...

And from the H/D tranny thread, i guess the 727 (A518) is what i want to get.
I'm wondering if i'll have to get a new computer unit for it to get the 360 and 727 talking to each other? And even the wiring harness, will it work with the different tranny.

Little info: the 360 didn't get put into a 4x4 (Dakota) until the 4-door models came out. And the Dakota R/T only comes with an auto, but i can't remembre which one...

Another quick question, i will be modding the engine somewhat to get some more lower end torque, i'm guessing this will be a lot easier if i do it before i shove it in the engine bay.
But if i get a shop to do it, do you think i should just ship the engine right to them before in goes in the Dak?

the 5.9 magnum r/t motor will have plenty of power right out of the box. find a crashed one with the harness/computer and use the trans that came with it. it should be the 518(727 w/ o.d.). that will keep the motor and trans "talking". if you have to use the 727, you can get a harness from a 1500 truck with 5 spd. its suppose to be a "stand alone" harness (per chris durham). then you can run whatever trans you want. thats what i'm going to do in 64 cuda when i swap in the magnum motor so i can run my 833 4 spd.:D
