: Rock ram setups
Sarcastro 10-05-2002, 12:06 PM I want to go power steering( and I have a line on two different boxes both for about $100 ),
However, eventually, I would like to go rock ram.
Has anyone done a home-brew rock ram off of a track kick box? how about a celica box? I know that people have done it off of an IFS "Goat" (read: ToyoDa) box but what about the two most popular and kit offered boxes?
Pictures are always nice :D
oh yeah .. and :flipoff2:
Lurk mode back own

rockzilla 10-05-2002, 04:08 PM back in the day when i was wheeling a blazer, i read on a s10 board about a guy tapping the caps on a saganaw box and hydrolic lines to a cylnder from a hardware store, he said it was a pretty easy settup, no experience myself though CYA!!
Rockrat 10-05-2002, 05:31 PM Do a search in the generall 4x4 area youl find pics of everything your lookin for with a sag box and toy IFS box Im in the process right now. the 2 wheel dr. toy IFS box puts out more PSI then the 4x4 but it can be remedied also dont go any larger then a 1.5" ram or it get very slow 2" ram are for anything 44 and larger.
Sarcastro 10-06-2002, 12:14 AM Red neck ram, that is the sh*t!!! Someone gotta post that pic!!:D
I knew that others had already done the sag and ifs (goat) bawx I just wondered if anyone had done it with a celica or track kick bawx:flipoff2:

Same standard procedure
scwafish 10-06-2002, 09:22 AM I was talking to the boys at Spidertrax a few weeks ago and they are developing a ram assist setup that uses an AGR pump and ram and the celica box. The price was actually pretty decent for a turn key setup...around 600 for everything.

I think thats fawkin expensive, no need, do it urself :flipoff2:
scwafish 10-06-2002, 08:08 PM I'm running a tracker pump and a celica box right now. I may switch to something else later. I think $600 for a modified box, a new pump, and a new ram, and all of the brackets is pretty fair.
bobaki 10-06-2002, 09:01 PM Sean maybe we can get Mikes licence plate for you ...........:D
scwafish 10-06-2002, 09:55 PM I'm not even close....

So hows that working for you with the AN- fittings and all? any smoking? squeeling? puking? doesnt the celica pump put out more volume/pressure?
No ahm not talking about a night in the osarks..(no offense to the osarkians) :flipoff2:
nuttzack 10-07-2002, 12:38 AM Thats a damm fair price.
scwafish 10-07-2002, 05:25 AM The celica/kick combo is working pretty good. It works great in rocks and dirt, but it pukes a little after a long session on the slabs. If I run 2 low across the slabs its fine. A cooler should fix the minor overheating. There is no squealing etc. The power is better than when I ran the Celica pump.
The ID of the AN fittings is the same as the crimped lines so it shouldnt make a difference. The lines havent leaked at all so far.
Sarcastro 10-07-2002, 06:13 PM On that subject which one puts out more PSI.. I guess I'll have to use the "S" buttong..
Search, its not just for newbies anymore!:D
Sarcastro 10-07-2002, 06:27 PM So how does Rock ram work exactly ? doe the ram only work when the steering is in "bypass"? or is it on all the time? someone draw me a picture? er something!:flipoff2:

Not sure on the celica or kick box I know the 2wd toy truck puts out aroud 1100 actually anyone will do as long as you stay with a 2x8 1-1/2 bore ram. you realy only want to go with a 2" bore ram if you have 44's or it get real sluggish and slow
Erik D_lux 10-11-2002, 02:13 AM I got my box tapped, and everything to do a hydro assist from rockstomper for $250
