Hi I am very new to this site but I have liked alot of stuff i have read so I thought i would try to throw my build on here. I just started redoing my jeep to weeks ago and hope to have it done before spring. I am not sure if it is exteme as it needs to be to be in this post section so I am going to try it. I am not good with the computer so I am hoping some people can understand that.

Well here is my jeep to begin with. It is a 1979 cj7 frame with a 304, 3speed manual trans, dana 20 tcase, dana 44 front and rear out of a scout with 3.08 gears and 35inch tsls. Well we can say that setup sucked extremly bad, but thats how I got the jeep. It was four linked with quarter elip suspension in the rear but the springs were worn out bad. Tub was rusted really bad to.

Well here is what i have to put back in it. I have stock xj coils for the rear, 14 bolt, 4.56 gears, detriot locker, and soon disk breaks. Front is dana 44 chevy with 4.56 gears am not real sure on what leafs i am going to put in it yet up front. I have a sm465 trans with a 205 case, with a tuneport 305 if i can fiqure out the wiring.

I will post pics as soon as I can fiqure out how. If this is not hard core enough let me no and I will post it in the other jeep section.

Going to swap meet today to see what I can get for parts. Jeep is striped down to the frame and going to start putting it back together this week. I am in need of a 4.56 carrier out of a 14 bolt. found out that a 3.73 carrier will not work after buying gears. Does any one no if my detroit locker will be a problem with a 4.56 carrier?

some of my progress this week. Striped jeep down to frame, also stared to redo my motor because I found out it wasnt taken care of very well. I no alot of people dont like 305 motors but I think that it will be plenty with the gearing i will be running. Also went to the swap meet today and picked up my gaskets, some nice hooker headers, accel wires, some crome stuff, rotors and calibers for the 14 bolt disk brake conversion. All for cheap:)

Yea, I think that's the one I was thinking of. One of my buddies said he was gonna go to it, and he told me where it was at. He lives in Delphos, so I think that's where I got Delphos from.

Yes, I do

Look for thick gears or a gear spacer, they are plenty stout for a 14 bolt.

were do i find the 14 bolt carrier spacer at? I have googled it and found nothing. I would buy a thick gear but I already messed up and bout the thin gear one. unless any one want to buy my 4.56 gears i bought already or trade for a thick gear?

I think they rn in the $30 range. Contact the company you got your gears, or one of the many vendors here.

I'm sorry but no matter how cheap you think it is or will be, it will still cost you way more money than you think, and will most likely not come out cheap in the end. Unless however, you build a total pile of shit that will break as soon as it hits the trail, or you are given lots of nice parts from a buddy's previous build, or perhaps an older sibling because you have no money (mm mmm my little brother).

Still confused about the Original Cheap Jeep by Bardenki, because it looks like you have quite a bit of money invested into your TJ.

So unless your idea of cheap is 5-10g's (total invested with vehicle), I don't see how you can build a reliable Hardcore trail rig that you can beat on continuously and not have to carry a truck load of spare parts.

I honestly don't believe in cheap builds, this sport is just very expensive.

I do no that any build is expensive my last build was an s10 blazer on 44s and it cost me about $7000 to build when i bought the blazer for $400. When I say cheap I mean cheaper then you guys i am tryin parts that can come out of stock vehicals that if you look around for you you can get fairly cheap. I understand that I will have a few grand in building it but that isnt that much to build a decent jeep. Figure if you get a 14 bolt rear from a junk yard they are right around a 100 you take them out. same with a dana 44 front. Most parts i get i go and take out so I can save money because alot of people have them but are to lazy to take them out so they sell them cheaper. Also if you keep looking on craigslist it is amazing some stuff you can come up with. I build everything I can out of metal instead of buyin it. So it may not be the best jeep out there but it should work.

Ok I havent posted in a couple days so here I go. This week I got some stuff done. I had to make new body mounts on the frame, frame cross members, and fix a fairly big crack on the frame near the front leaf spring hanger. Well got all that fixed and made some front spring hangers to mount the full width chevy dana 44 in. When I put the front axle in I Moved it foward 4 inches. I set the newer body on that was in alot worse condtion then I thought. I got my motor all assemebled and set It in about were I wanted it going to get stuff to make motor mounts today. Well here are some pics.

novak-adapt.com look for their external slave cylinder kit and and use their idea its a simple 3/16 or 1/4 plate (can't remember what thickness they told me ) that lines up with two holes on your bell a hole cut out for the slave to slip into and two bolt holes for the slave to bolt to the plate pretty simple and with a little time could be easily duplicated for a fraction of the cost. just make sure you pick a slave that matches the same throw as your master.
