I have a 87 fullsize Bronco with the electric shift 1356 case. I have the oppurtunity to buy a manual shift 1345 case for 100 bucks. I really want a manual shift case, but i do not want to lose any amount of strength over the 1356. I know it will be a direct swap, but the question i am asking is, what are the differences between the two? Will i lose any strength over a manual shift 1356?

1345= aluminum case, very similar to Ford NP-203 (part time) 2.72:1 low ratio
1356=stronger magnezium case, I think has the same ratio as the 1345
My other understanding is that the 1356 had an improved oiling system (which couldn't have been THAT improved since the 1356 pump starts to spin after high mileage). Still, you don't hear of many 1345's dying because they didnt' get enough lubrication, so I wouldn't worry about it.
If I were you I'd go for it, it'd be worth it just to lose the push-button crap.
