: D heavy-duty axles
I read many discussions about heavy-duty axles, and I have a few unanswered questions.
In Israel the only option imported is MaxiDrive, which is great, but very very expensive (specialy the front axles and CV-joints).
1) I read that ECR have heavy-duty axles, but as far as I know, Ashcroft (UK) is the manufacturer. Is it true ?
2) What other heavy-duty axles vendors / manufacturers would you recommend for the original D90, D110 24 splines axle-housing ?
TIA
Erez.

road1will 10-05-2002, 02:43 PM ECRs axles are ashcroft. MaxiDrive has got to be the best axle manufacturer out there, there stuff is top quality. If it is a little on the expensive side there (how much are we talking?) then im sure that one of the aussie boys would throw together an order for you and have it shipped to Israel.

GBR just marks up and resells Jack McNamara stuff, also very, very high quality but dont buy it from GBR. you will pay through the nose in the end.
RockRover 10-05-2002, 02:51 PM GBR mostly sells Maxi stuff...(24 spline axles and drive flanges)....The Jack Mac stuff he sells is the 30 spline and 35 spline (salisbury)....And diff's of course.

Obviessly MaxiDrive are then best, but Rear and front axles + CV joints are near to 3000$ !!!!!!!!! , which is a lot in Israeli terms.
Does any one know how do I get in touch with McNamara ??
Also, Where can I get good bumpstops ?
landrover108 10-06-2002, 12:44 PM on my disco, ive got Daystar part # KUO9014 bumpstops...they are 3.5 inches long, but to mount them, i inverted the mounting plate, which makes them about 4 inches long....

3000.00 is a lot in US terms... At least at my house. It does make me wish these things were just a little more common place. You can buy a whole parts truck for 3k....

m016324 10-08-2002, 05:49 AM so these j-mac axles from the land down under are direct drop ins with the flanges? So the price quoted there would get us 30 spline axles for the rear for 361.564 USD
and fronts set up for 626.710 usd
doesn't sound like that bad of a price so who's going to start shipping these things to the us? I need rear axles for that price I'll even trade someone a LT230 for the axles.

RockRover 10-08-2002, 07:09 AM Remember for the 30 spline rear stuff you will need a new 30 spine arb (RD76?)...Or at the same time, buy a Jac Mac toy 3rd, drilled to the LR housing bolt pattern...Pretty cheap too (about $165 US)...Then drop in a toy 30 spline arb or detroit.
You will also need to machine your spindles about .06 (?) to accommodate the larger diameter axle.
Other than that it's a drop in...And actually in AUS dollars, it's very afordable.
