looking for a place to wheel after KOH. Was thinking Moab, but hearing it may be too cold /snowy? Where else? Anybody wanna show us around somewhere fun? Suggestions?
We're probably gonna leave the lakebed sunday/monday, and head somewhere else on the way home. We'll have a pair of untagged buggy's on 39Krawlers.
thanks. dave

If you are going home by way of I-10 then theres a few places not too far out of your way in AZ. Table Mesa is about 50 miles north of I-10. Just go to Phoenix and when you see the I-17 North exit take it till you come to the Table Mesa exit. exit the freeway and head towards the left and go west and north. There quite a few trails and plenty of open areas for camping.
Just one caution though, It's been quite wet around here lately and the Agua Fria river there is running ( it was flooding big time last week ) and can be deceptive as to whether it is crossable or not, There are no bridges to cross it anywhere in the area. if there's much water flowing I wouldn't attemp to cross it unless you see someone else cross with no problems. All the good trails are on the west side of the river.
The other area I'm suggesting would be Florence Junction you'd need someone to show where this is. It's about 50 miles East of I-10 outside of the Phoenix area.
Both areas are have mild to totally wild trails and some scenic desert sites to see. You can spend anywhere's from one day to a week to explore either area.
If you need someone to show you around go to http://www.wheelingarizona.com and see if you can find someone who knows the areas.
I'll be at the hammers and probably be headed home on Sunday following the race. But after 10 days of wheeling and partying I'll probably not be in any condition to show you around. there will be a fairly large group of us from AZ at KOH Look for an AZ flag on a large base camp antenna if you want to look us up. Just bring beer and these guy's will be your new best friends!
Farmington should be ok and las cruces would be like late nc spring.
Check the conditions for Moab, it would be a shame to not go there if you haven't been.
Better yet, go to all three.

We usually go to Moab for presidents day weekend and it is nice. Year before last there was some snow, last year it was clear. Even with some snow there it is still fun.
