Can someone explain trailer brake wiring to me? I have a single axle, two brake trailer, each have about 3.2 Ohms resistance. The yahoo that wired my trailer made it so I have two 12v+ going to my brakes, and I get the feeling that one is supposed to go to ground. Can't figure out how the break away battery factors in, unless it's just switched and tied into the two leads for the brakes.

Oh, and I guess it also wouldn't make sense that my battery is only charged when the lights are on, but...

TIA,
Bryan

Try this website out Bryan. http://www.dexteraxle.com/service_literature/

Go into the service manual and from the dropdown menu select electric brakes. Lots of good info there. Also check a site that Jaffer posted a couple days ago. I haven't looked into it other than the link he provided, but it looks like it has some good stuff also.

Thanks, that's a good reference! I got them all working, now I have to figure out how to adjust them. They won't lock up even when empty, but I haven't bothered to take the wheel off yet.

Thanks,
Bryan

3.2 ohms across the magnets is your problem. Should be 20.

Also, make sure you have a great ground.
