Hey guys,
there must be a couple diesel heads on here who know where the glow plug relay is on a bj40?
I think mine is fawked. glow plug light stayed on , and in a very short time, nuked the lowside battery. (its showing -7,2volts. which I reckon, is, like bad eh.)
I'm hoping that relay is the problem, because a whack of things happened at the same time there.
cheers,
ryan
(and if any of you lurkers out there know the answer, pipe up please!! I could use a quick reply on this one so I have a chance to get the goddamn thing working tomorrow so I can get to work)

There is the glow plug timer mounted on the inside of the firewall on the passenger side. There's another on the side of the radiator mount in the left front of the vehicle, which is the problem i guess since there must have been so much current to nuke the battery in a short period of time.
I'm sorry that i can't help you any more, because some guy borrowed my manual and didn't return it yet.

Hope this helps you a bit.

Mark

hey thanks man,
I found the offending relay, down near the passengers feet, took it apart and one of the contacts was stuck, so I popped it open, cleaned the contacts and it seems ok now.
It doesn't seem like there's a factory fuse in that circuit, unless the glow light on the dash is considered one, so I may look at putting one in in the near future so this doesn't happen again.
Interesting that battery started to take a charge last night. had to charge it at 6 volts for a while before it would accept 12.
Don't have high hopes for it , but maybe it'll get me home.
cheers,
ryan
