ok.. so after some measurements and some threats of rain. I cancled cage plans and just put the atlas in.

Ok.. no body lift, it went in with space to spare, no cutting, no bashing in metal. (that goes against all instructions)

I didn't have to shorten the tranny output shaft... cool

Got the shifters in and adjusted with only a 1"x4" trim of sheetmetal. (instructions implied much more had to be cut)

Sounds pretty good so far right?

ok.. problems

I couldn't use a tranny jack or anything to put it in. The ladder bar cross member was closer to the tranny than the atlas was long. So.. I had to bench press it up in there rotate 90 degrees.

The speedo sensor. If it doesn't work, its not going to work where it is. it hits the back side of the shifter rails. (that wasnt in the instructions)

The trainy mount didn't clear the atlas. Had to modify the tranny mount. (not in the destructions either)

Both yokes were 1350 series, my front driveshaft is 1310. dammit #1, my rear 1350CV flange from the 32 spline np231 doesn't fit in the atlas. OD of the machined surface from the seal is too small. dammit #2. So no getting to test it beyond moving the shifters. (so.. at the very least, new 1350 flange needed, and rebalancing of the driveline, and 1310 yoke for the atlas... or... gawd.. 1350 long travel front driveline.

The C-clip to hold the shift rod to the shifters... I can't get one on yet since it doesn't go in to the shifter far enough to get to the "slot" with the clip.

Anyway.. its in, I'm happy so far, it goes through the gears. with no "stickyness" the books and users of brand new atlas's I've heard complain about. Just weird is all... the instructions where 180 degrees off regarding the PITA items. lol

Hey travis i'll get ya a seal its a common seal to make your flange fit- not sure what happend there but its easy to fix- the front? shiat they put 1350 on it huh- well 1310 is an easy one to put on too- sooo don't worry its will all be good on the driveline end- :D Jess

I think I would upgrade the front shaft to 1350's but if your in a bind you can get cross size ujoints. 1310 on one side and 1350 on the other. Check the racing web pages,,,,Summit maybe?

ok.. thanks... I'm hoping to hav the rig rolling by Saturday next weekend. So I can put a few test miles on it Sunday. :)

The front yoke, if you got one and no for sure it will be here before Friday great. If not.. I may consider going the 1350 driveline route. just would have to get a 1350 yoke for the D44. I kinda like the driveline route, it makes everything 1350 joints. no worries at all right? hehe

One thing I noticed on teh 1350 yokes that came on the atlas... they are threaded. do 1350's come with straps and not u-bolts?

Yeah, you can get the dline issue solved immediately with a crossover ujoint. When you get the time I would have the DS yokes upgraded. Definitely better than downgrading the atlas yoke. A local DS shop should be able to swap a DS yoke and rebalance for $60-80.
