I have a chance to jump on a 73 scout with a blown motot for real cheap. I know some of that scouts have 44's that can be made to fit an XJ. Anyone know if this 73 is the ticket?

Some early scouts have a mix-mash of axles. Check the tags. Later axles are disk.

hit the bricks newbie none of you fawkers should speak until spoken to:flipoff2:

the scouts have 64"axles and they are wider then a XJ but that is a good upgrade because WIDER IS BETTER--- I put a waggy 44(64.5") front and ford 9"(65")rear in my XJ. and love the stability.

What scouts have 64" wide axles?

try around 58-60". close enough to an XJ. maybe you should hit the search button :flipoff2:

Also keep in mind, if you want to use a Scout front 44.
They have 0 caster at the knuckles, you'll want to cut the welds and rotate the inner knuckles to give you around 8-12* positive caster.

Upon searching you will find that a scout front 44 has 0 caster and has D30 outers. They are crap. Find a waggy front 44 and swap to 5 lug to match the rear scout 44.
