jdjanda's Scout.

Just want to see what a Scout with 63 inch wide axles look like. I tried to get some pictures out of Shadow Man, but he's Shadow Man.

Oh yeah sheet, never responded to your email

Your best bet is to run the Scout II housing, with Ford or Chebbie outer assemblies. The Ford and Chebbie outers are about 1.5" wider then Scout II stuff. Using the Ford and Chebbie stuff with the Scout II housing will put you right at 63.5.

That's exactly how I hoped it would look. :) :) :) I can't wait to get my sheit together now. Thanks you rock.

What rims/backspacing are you running?

Just one thing: I thought the Scout II axles were 58.5 inches wide?

rear Scout II 44's are 58.5"
fronts are 61.75" with stock outers.... put the ford or chevy outers on and gain aother 1.5" or so. Puts you in at about 63.25"

8 lug stuff is a tad wider then 1/2 ton, so you should be almost 64 in the front.

Wheels are 15x8 with 3.75 BS, 36x12.5R15 swampers.

That's perfect. :bounce:

With that backspacing how much clearance is there between the tires and springs at full lock?

I think if I can find a ford HP cheap I'll go that way. It should save me some work since it's already spring over. No matter which axle I use I still have to grind the c-yokes off. Plus I need to switch to 4.10's anyway.

Tires don't hit the springs at full lock, turning radius has increased some due to the hi-steer setup I'm running

Or get rims with 2" back spacing.

I run stock scout axles with 10" rims, 2" back spacing with 35's. At full lock I'v got about 1.5" between the tire and springs. Puts me about 63".

You're running D44's and 35's? Isn't that kind of hard on those little D44 wheel bearings? :) I think I'm way ahead with my $100 FF 14 bolt and a $300 locker. BTW: Are your steering stops turned all the way in? Just curious.

Been on Pat's site a LONG time. He has before and after pics, From Moab and Independence trails. Rear is a 70 CLOSED knuckle modified by me to run 35 spline u-joint shafts. So far I have broken 3 innershafts in the rear. It is 35 spline outers with hub flanges. The lockouts WILL NOT hold up. They EXPLODE like a grenade. After I seen one blow and bounce of a wall at Moab, it scared me so bad for the safety of onlookers I went to hub flanges alll around. I haven't done much wheeling this year because I dragrace, autocross and roadrace. But we are doing Moab Oct 17-21 :)

<grin> Yep, he is one of our stars!!! In fact, he is one of the earliest SSII on my site. I have watched the buildup of his rig with envy for years. That is what an SSII is Supposed to look like!!! They were never intended as museum pcs. They were meant to wheel!!! This is one of my all time favorite shots of an IH wheeling

Shadow Man you're too modest. Your rig is awesome. How come you weren't in TTC? Hopefully I get to see your SS some day close up.

That sucks, but what do we expect from a rag that has mall queens on the cover every month. At least we can be proud that Abba made a great showing with a real truck that's street driven. I thiink they just want a bunch of heeps and GM pickups because that's who buys the most magazines.

WoW! I must be real wide. Full width C&C ff14 bolt with discs and a full width d60 also with discs. Did i mention 2.5" backspacing on the wheels and 39.5 TSL swampers?
