I think that all depends on what he's towing and what he's towing with.

Couple of pulls west of Blythe, Ca. Nothing major for you, but @ 80K lbs they always slowed me down,LOL. Downgrade coming into Indio,Ca. Just watch your speed as you start dropping off the top. No big deal really.

Once you get on the 64 headed to yucca valley watch your speed. CHP are hiding everywhere. And there has bee one hidding one 247 near boone rd. So keep an eye out.

Not too worried about speed and the CHP... but the whole "one big ass trailer requires a CDL" thing, which is not required in FL.

I10 into CA is only a 5% grade, correct?

We've towed to Glamis before without any issue with Florida tags (truck and trailer). Seems CA is quite happy to have some income from tourists (just like we are in FL). It's not a bad drive at all with that set up. I think the biggest thing for me when we headed out there as west Texas where everyone was running 80+ mph with trailers. I do that from time to time here but not like the long stretches there.

Have fun on I-10 across LA. The raised roadway with concrete make the truck and trailer combo wallow for hours on end. I never get car sick and by the time I got through to eastern Texas I felt like I was gonna puke.

With that load you should be fine. Good luck have a safe trip.

That's how we roll over here, I mean where else can you look ahead and see the road straight and flat in front of you for about 40 miles?

I am currently just west of Pheonix...

The trip has been interesting to boot. Florida wasn't too bad, LA did make me want to puke.

The Budget truck my wife is driving does not do hills well at all. The smaller ones aren't too bad, but the big ones... 25 MPH uphill...

I wasn't running 80 because I would have run away from the Budget. I could still accelerate up most of the hills, but trying to stay with the Budget truck killed part of it.

Should be pulling into CA tomorrow... Hitting our new home by tomorrow night...
