I installed a SYE this summer along with a Rubicon Express Long Arm Kit on my TJ. The belly pan raises the skid up a good amount so I couldn't get the linkage back together (IE. I didn't shift my TCase afer this). Well I finally swapped in two new axles and tried to get into 4WD and it doesn't work. I took the linkage off and I can shift it into 2HI, N, and 4Lo. I'm just guessing on 2HI since the front driveshaft isn't spinning while in 4Lo it does spin. I can't seem to get 4HI to work. It is like the transfer case is skipping over 4HI. If 4HI is there, it's like it's not selectable or it doesn't stay.
When I did the SYE, I moved the gears on my old mainshaft over to the short shaft (old shaft on the right):

Any ideas? I really don't want to pull down the transfer case again if I don't have to, but that's what it is looking like to me...
Also, it has been working in 2wd for the past 4 months or so and works great in 4Lo the past couple days that I have been messing with it.
One thing I'm wondering is whether or not the Jeep needs to be rolling slightly to get it into 4wd... I don't ever remember having to do that however...
Another thing I noticed is that it will flash 4 high on my guages, as i shift through the gears, but doesn't ever stay...

can you get it into four low by moving the linkage on the tcase? make sure the linkage is set up correctly. put your tcase in neutral, put it in gear and see if your jeep moves, then you if the linkage is right. hope that helps

Does it feel like it is making it into the 4hi then just popping out or will it not even shift into the 4hi position?

Double check again and see if you really have neutral. It's very common to put the mode synchronizer ring on backwards in the mode selector shift fork and lose a gear. Typically though, you lose neutral. Also, if you have messed up linkage, you typically lose either end of the range, not a spot in the middle of the range.

I've taken the linkage off and I'm manually shifting it at this point. Sick of dealing with the linkage anyway...
That is a good question. As far as I can tell when I manually shift it, it skips 4wd. The only thing is it takes a lot of force to get it to shift so it might be popping into 4wd and then I'm forcing it past there... It should have a noticeable click for that gear though right?
I definitely have neutral. After I shift it, I test out what mode it is in. If it's in neutral at the tcase I can put it in gear and rev until my hearts content...
