This aluminum intake is on a Scout that was raced by (his name escapes me, Tom Mandera may know his name) back in the 70's.

I think the Scout was purchased by Jim Marsh from Mr. Scout many years ago, I hear someone back east also has one of these IH race trucks with the aluminum intakes.

Funny that manifold is a dead ringer of the cast iron spredbore four barrel manifold that I have, with the exception of the casting on the intake runners. I don't belive that its aluminum!

I saw some boat manifold for the 392 on the BB. Anybody know about that? It's ugly as hell, but the guy says that it can be used on a 304! <IMG SRC="smilies/beer.gif" border="0"> --Josh

Yep! with mine own two eyes. Jim also has a Scout 80/800 he calls Rubi. Has a great story about how he bought it from some infamous old mountain goat... and how it was wheelin the Rubicon 20+ years ago.

Does anyone know anything about the blue boggered 800 in those pictures? I'd really like to know what kind of rear springs he's running. Or if anyone has any suggestions for rear springs for a Scout 800 running SOA front with stock Wagoneer packs I'd appreaciate it. Thanks

I wish I knew, but I don't. I'd like to find an Al 4bbl for my 304.. LOL. Probably have to break out the MIG and buy some tubing instead. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> someday..

BTW, SSS has Jerry Coltron's factory sponsored SSII desert racer for sale. $2500 w/o an engine/trans, and the body isn't all that pretty. It's setup for a SBC at the moment (after IH pulled out in '80 Jerry went to a Chevy)

It's in Aurora, CO at Gryphin Automotive's storage lot.. Comer was going to build an IH powerplant like my 304 for it, but John Glancy has decided he likes drag racing more than jumping. :-)

(Finally had Mr.C tune the 304C while at RMIHR.. runs a LOT better @ about 30BTDC.. starts a little harder now tho'. ;-) )
