Hey now I am thinking of coming over to the dark side and purchasing a Scout. Do any of you guys have 3 kids in the back seat? Ages 4,7 and 9? Is there enough room? I have watched Scouts get it the wildest $hit so I know you guys know whats up and I need something big enough for the kids so the little woman will talk to me the week before I go wheeling (getting old fighting about her wanting to go and not having room for the kids). So what do you think? Any suggestions? Input?

I can fit my wife, kid and 2 large dogs in my Scout II. Gear goes on the rack. No problems. Need a rear tire carrier though. Spare takes up room inside.

Never had 3 kids in the back, but used to have 2 big kids and a adult back there When I lived outside of Yellostone park we would load it up for a 10 day campout. Everything and a big raft. Thats the great thing about a Scout II. Its big enough to haul your camping gear, 5 people, and small enough to get through the tight trails.

Look for a Scout with the front bench seat option, then one of the kids can sit up front, or the wife can slide over next to you

Married with two kids, ages 4 and 8. The four year old sits in a child seat! Plenty of room. Cooler, tools, high-lift, etc., in the back.

I have so much room in my traveler that my buddies call it the school bus, or the family truckster.

That's what I was going to say, if you really need alot of room, get a traveler. You could even add a 2nd back seat if one wasn't enough.

Add? They were options! Heck, might've been standard on the Midas for the third seat. Typically the Midas Travelers had 2 captains up front, 2 in the back, and a 2-seat bench behind the rear captain's chairs.
Comfy seating for 6.
The 100" WB Scout II back seat only comes with two seat-belts. Three kids might fit, but two adults are more than enough.
The front bench can seat 3 alright, though 2 adults and one child would be easier than 3 adults.
On a Traveler (118WB) I think the back bench should seat 3 just fine. If I needed the seating I'd probably opt for the Traveler - 2 buckets up front, 3-person bench in the back.
If you don't mind a full-size you could also go for the 119" WB Travelall. 4 doors and a tailgate. Mine has 2 buckets + console up front and a 3-adult bench in the back. PLENTY of cargo space and if you fold the back seat down I'm sure two adults could sleep comfortably in back - if not more. I think they designed it to accomodate a 4x8 sheet of plywood inside.
I've wheeled my T'all a few times here in Montana negotiating through the trees and snow without any problems other than the nimble little EB's getting in my way.
Nothing like a Travelall on 33s rolling down the Interstate with three Christmas trees strapped to the roof rack, either.

'72 Travelall (http://www.tmcom.com/~tsm1/scout/72tall/) 4x4 - stock
'77 SII - lifted, locked, but only a soft-top
'77 SII - no top, race-only rig.
Plus a Crewcab n ' more Scouts..

That might be a little bigger than I want. I think I will look for an early scout (pre smog Ca) and if it doesnt have enough room for gear just build a trailer.
