Hammered Scout 02-06-2010, 12:35 PM Tanks are full, battery is charged. Set thermostat to 75* and waited for furnace fan to come on but nada. Where do I look for flame. Furnace is independant from water heater right?

For what? ...the fact that guys like you are the reason "joe" in India insists I look to see if my computer is plugged in at the start of the tech support call, or that you're not sure if you're furnace and water heater are seperate units? :p
Congrats on it being a cheap easy fix! :flipoff2:

nightcrawlers 02-06-2010, 05:03 PM holy crap! youre lucky you didnt kill yourself and everyone around you! :flipoff2:
Mechanos 02-06-2010, 09:20 PM I was about to post some pictures, but since you got yours working I didn't bother. When I bought mine, I could light the pilot and it would burn for a mintue or two then it would go out. I ended up pulling the furnace out and tearing into it. I found the combustion air intake and the intake fan completely packed full of mud dobber nests. I cleaned all that shit out and put it back in and it works like a champ.
If you don't have them installed already, put mud dobber screen on EVERY intake orifice on that camper! Sooner or later, they will get ya!

No he is not, the propane units have to have flame to the thermo-coupler or they shutoff completely. If the pilot goes out then the propane is shutoff. The thermo-coupler produces milliampes that the internal regulator has to see or it turns off. That is why you have to hold the pilot light button down for a set period of time on the manual units. If you just light the pilot and let go, it will go out unless the thermo-coupler sees the heat.
The only way they can be dangerous is if you hold the pilot button on and it never lights. Then you can get a build up of propane.
:flipoff2: In pirate fashion, learn what your talking about before try and bash someone.

mxr148 02-07-2010, 05:48 PM Glad I came across this thread, wife and I bought a 4 season expedition style pop up (made by Outfitter in CO) just recently for the back of the tow rig and I was just outside today checking the batteries, running the generator etc.. and could'nt get the furnace to come on (we've have'nt used the furnace yet) so hopefully I luck out and did'nt notice an on'off switch on the thermostat. If still no worky, I might have to pick some brains (or quit being lazy and read through the furnace manual).
