: Bushnell Vs EOtech Holographic Sights

I would like to put a holographic sight on the Benelli M2. Really like the wider lens and holo sights. Hate to pay the 400-500 for the EOtech, but I do believe you get what you pay for in most things. However, what's the difference in the Bushnell compared to the EOtech? I've had an EOtech in hand, and have not had the Bushnell in hand.

I really like the clarity and ability to see through the lens of the EOtech 512. Is one able to see through the lens of the Bushnell?

I looked at a cheaper Chinese knockoff version of the EOtech, and although I could see the holographic sight on the targets, I couldn't actually see through the lens of the scope.

Pros cons of both please.

M2 will be used mainly for Turkey hunting, although it has already killed a pile of rats while bush hogging fields.

I use the Eotech on my work gun and it is a good optic, rugged/reliable, but pricey.. the only con to me is I wish it would cycle between red and green dots. the red isn't always bright enough for my eyes. It is cheaper than the acog I truly lust after though.. look at http://www.opticsplanet.com/ they have user reviews on tons of optics plus decent prices..

I have the EOtech 511, I really like it with the exception of the magnifiers being so expensive. That would not really matter on a shot-gun anyways. I am a firm believer in cheap rifle scopes being trash, do not waste time with a bushnell.

Bushnell is an "entry level" Eotech, they're made by the same people. My father in law has been running one on his AR for about 5 years with zero issues.

512 would be a good call though, you can find them for $300 or less, especially used...

as many fakes that are around now I won't buy a optic on ebay. Only from a trusted seller on a forum or a trusted forum member. Honestly in this case I'd feel better buying a 3yr used eotech/aimpoint/acog off a forum that a new one for the same price on ebay.

No experiance with the Bushnell, I want to get one and try it out.
Brand new EoTech 511 runs 360.
The Mako 3x Magnifiers are like only 85-90$. They come with a 30mm mount. Its basically a 30mm scope ring, but it works. Not as nice as a flip to side...but it works.
I swapped out the ring for an ADM aimpoint mount, so that its got a QD

Where are you guys actually finding the Holosight at? I was looking to try one a few weeks back and couldn't find them anywhere. They don't seem to be listed on Bushnell's website anymore (other than the warranty and manuals pages). Midway has them as "discontinued by manf". The only place I can find them actually listed for sale is the website of that ebay vendor listed above. And I don't trust them seeing as how they are most likely selling knockoff Eotechs.

Thanks Gentleman!!

I missed out on the one at Ar15. :(

Oh well. I didn't need to be spending the money right now, but one has to buy when it's available.

I believe I'll be going with EOtech, unless something drastically changes.

I love my 516. With that said, the only difference IIRC between the EoTech and the Bushnell is the waterproofing and the metal protective hood.

Definitely important, and needed when hunting turkeys, and frequenting Casinos in my area.

Sorry got the treads mixed up. Hope the BIL is doing better.

Yep, that is the main difference. Have you looked at the mini-halo dots? There are some good ones out there, and they are not very expensive. I have used on my Norinco 982 (870 knock off) and have not had any problems. My friend has one on his S-12.This is the one I have, but there a lot of manufactures out there. http://tnvc.com/items/weapon_optics/rdpII.html

Anyone else have one of these?

I had a cheap JPoint/Docter clone similar to that, which I bought off eBay.

I killed it on a .22 pistol very quickly. Doc recommended a second one which arrived recently, but I haven't used it yet to see if it'll hold a zero. It's going straight onto a 7.62 AK to see if it will survive.

I bought a 511 last weekend to replace an Aimpoint clone I had. It's much better. I'm glad I bought it now. I went back and forth on what to get and the Eotech was at the gun show at a good price so I bought it. Hopefully it won't have battery problems I read about with some of the other models.

Just saw this posted on a local craigslist. If I had the money I would pick it up my self.
