The other day I saw thread on the weak points of the D60 but I cant seem to find it in the search. Anyways I am looking for a list from weakest to strongest for the 30 spline. I think it went stub, hub, u-joint, r&p, inners, carrier. I think they said the stub tends to split length wise and grenade the hub. That sound about right?

The 30 spline stub shafts are weak but they are upgradeable to 35 spline for around $500 for the new stubs and hubs

Is the only benefit of the 35spline stubs the spline strength? Or is the shaft itself bigger/stronger? If you upgrade the stubs do you just blow up the inners then?

The 35 spline shaft is bigger dia. there are pics of the shafts on the 4xdfactory site. The inner shafts are already 35 spline
Here is the 35 compared to the 30.

didnt know you could click on the pic. Yeah now I see why the 35 splines are stronger. Look a LOT stronger at that. Thanks.

Once you go with 35 spline outers the locking hub is the next weakest link and it will remain so if you use warn hubs, you will need to go with spicer hubs or full time pucks.
As far as ujoints go the next step up are the Spicer SPL55X's or you know who.

So the r&p w/5.13s and the inner shafts are pretty hefty? Shes getting a detroit so carrier shouldnt be a problem. ORD is making chmo inners for them now I think. If not they are suppose to be coming soon. Shit its to bad GM didnt make a FF14 equivlant front axle :D
Thanks all

Just for some interesting information...
Wagoner Machine Shop in Wagoner, Oklahoma actually makes a full-floater 14 bolt front axle... Man, I love this sport!

I can hook you guys up with my www.drivetraindirect.com discount if that helps.
35 spline Hubs and stubs will run you $329
Or 35 spline hubs and drive flanges for $279
Or with the new SPL55-4X joints included it will be $365 with the hubs/stubs, or $342 with the flanges/stubs.
All in stock right now (as of yesterday when I ordered some spares).

Have you ever ordered from them? I got an e-mail re ; the stubies but they don't have an address , telephone # or anything on their website. Is it a store? I've never heard of them.
I'm looking at upgrading and that's a great price but no info on this supplier besides a web address
I am wondering if ORD actually MAKES anything, and you think they are forging chro moly shafts:confused:
