I just picked up a Waggy 44 for the front of my YJ.I also picked up a Rodeo 44 with 4.10s.

The Rodeo rear looks small, and I dont want to sink any money in it.

Would a Toyota rear be a better choice?Im keeping them 6 lug and am running 33" TSLs for now,Probably 35"s in the near future.

Will the Rodeo rear be good enough if I add a truss and weld the tubes?

OR Whats a good rear axle 6lug and the right width?

Also thought about an 8.8 with the super 8.8 kit basically to get 6lug shafts and alittle extra width.

The toyota rear may not be wide enough for you, if you are wanting to add width. I just put a set of toy axles in a CJ-7. They are from a 1984 toyota so they are actually 1/2" smaller in width than stock Cj wide track axles. You can use a later mdel that will gain 3" of width. Also the parts for Toyota's with 4.10's can be found all over, thats why I went with them. Have you looked for a AMC 20 out of an early 80's wagon they 1 piece axles and 6 lug.

i'm putting a waggy D44 front and AMC20HD in my YJ.

the AMC20HD in the full size jeep is quite a bit stronger than the CJ version. One piece shafts and larger axle tubes.

I run a 8.8 with my waggy 44 with some conversion spacers.

Three years later spacers seem to be 100% with 37 inch Maxxis CC's

I know about the AMC20 but dont really have access to one cheap enough.Plus Ide kick myself in the ass for selling the ARB I had last year.

Pretty sure the Super 8.8 kit add some width because of the C-Clip eliminator.
Plus stronger axles and get them setup for 6lug.

I might just run the Rodeo rear as I got it cheap plus it has 4.10s and disc

Just found out both the gears sets I got with the Waggy are 5.89s May just put them in the Rodeo rear until I find a Waggy 44 to swap them to.

That's a big fat no ghost rider. You gain no width.

Why not go pull a Waggy rear 44? I believe from 86' and up waggys. Same width and pattern, should be easy as hell to match gears, almost as strong as an 8.8.

If your going balls to the walls with 37's or bigger Id sourch other options. But 35's, 36's, mild footed 37's, should survive just fine on a rear waggy 44.

The 8.8 would be a better choice, but matching the pattern of the 44 could get costly depending on your parts sourch. IE..Junkyard or new.

A Toyota IFS rear is what you're looking for. Target. 87-95, preferably a V-6

For reasons of simplicity stated above, I would just go track down a Waggy 44. I had some serious miles on my rear waggy 44. I ran 37" Iroks, a 4:1 kit, granny 4-speed, and 4.10s while spending most of my time in the rocks. I would say due to the fact that it doesn't have u-joints its even stronger then the front 44. I never spent a dime on mine and I wouldn't say I was nice to it either. There was times when going backwards just wasn't and option and well it was time to "Get it".....

You can get wagoneers for FREE..no joke.If you cant find a waggy rear end, then your not looking hard enough IMHO...people have these things laying around all over the place, and alot of people want the junk hauled off...You could get the AMC 20 or the rear 44..Even if you paid 200 bucks for the entire vehicle you could cut the axles out and sell the rest of it off to get back some of your cash...I saw a ruuning , driving waggy on ebay an old grandma had and she just wanted some cash..It looked like hell, but went of r600...and I think you could get a deal like that and sell the motor, tranny case, doors, frame, hood, grill, MISC little stuff and recoupe some cash...Look around, like I said i have seen people get them for free, and I have seen people who have given them away for free..they are out there..check IFSJA.org in the sale section

i run a waggy 44 front built

in the rear i run a 44 out of a 82 J10. Its 1.5" wider than the waggy. Ive got 33 spline moser chromolys though and run 35s. Im not afraid to get on the throttle with this setup though and it will give me room to upgrade to larger tires in the future.

This all happened by luck/no luck.I just put 4.10s and an 8.8 in my YJ.Broke the 4.10 gears in the 30.Happened to be in the classified and traded my parts for the waggy 44 with new 5.89 gears 2sets
A friend pulled a Rodeo 44 and sold it to me for 100$

I know FSJ are cheap I just dont have room to take apart another vehicle.I have enough as it is.

Ide like to use the 5.89 gears as I will be switching to an overdrive and bigger tires eventually.35-37" range

So I guess Ill find a Waggy rear 44

The Super 8/8 kit does add just a little bit of width to each side but very minimal. Check the instructions that come with it if you require proof.

It does get rid of the C-Clip.

But I have not seen one that had a 6 lug pattern. It comes with 5 on 4.5 and 5 on 5.5 drilled.

For everything you are doing and the parts you are trying to use I don't think the 8.8 is what you want.

why don't you just get a wagoneer dana 44 rear to match the front? they are cheap to come by and would match the 6 lug you are after.

i am running an 8.8 and it is a very good choice. i am bias of course, but the wagoneer 44 rear would be a better fit like jsmith7364 said. i like the info about the super 88 kit adding a little width. i didn't know that.
