I want a ram charger for for overall use, with a removable top. What years where those made. I'm going with Dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear and 44's

well, if you want a removiable top, it woudl be a 74-80.5 ramcharger or trailduster. 74-78 you could get a 440 if those are to your liking, 74-77 had a stronger steering box (which gets replaced with a 2wd box anyway if you are doing a cross over steering conversion). I personally think the 81-84 ranchargers are the best from the factory, mainly because they come with the stronger d44 front. But sounds like you are going to be modifing it alot, so ay year shoudl work.

The 74 does not have the saginaw box 75 and up do. One cool thing about the dodge version of the saginaw steering box is that the pitman arm can be clocked in 90 deg increments there is no need to get a 2wd box because they are the same. Dodge used a mounting plate for the 4X4's. To perform the crossover all you have to do is remove the 4x4 adapter plate and bolt the steering box onto the frame in the 2wd position shorten the steering shaft and reindex the pitman arm. I have performed this conversion on my 88 Ramcharger it was easy. FYI 88 was the first year for EFI on the 318 and 89 was the first year for EFI on the 360. I don't know if that matters to you or not but something to think about.

A buddy of mine has/had? a '77 w/a factory 440/auto, soft top, lifted and hacked for 39.5s. He was gonna sell it cheap, sans axles/tires. I'll ask him if he still has it (he's in S Denver).
