trade it in on a sidekick. It couldnt possibly be worth the hassles to do it right.

a few years ago a buddy of mine took his nissan two wheel drive to FLY-N-HI and they told him to prerun his truck they would put ford ranger susp under the front of his truck......the i beam.... would get better wheel travel out of it.

mkrzys

yeah, that seems like a lot of work

Converting to IFS is going to be a lot of work no matter what way you look at it. I hope you weren't under the impression it would be otherwise.

My advice would be to trade it on a 'kick too, you could make a rather nice high speed runner out of one of them. Or even a grand vitara, you start with a 2.5 V6...

No doubt if you end up IFSing the Sam you'll definitly have something different.

the longer wheel base will give better "prerunner" ride too

So..... you want to put IFS on a samurai and SAS on a T100?? Seems like a lot of work. I agree with starting with a sidekick- mo power, already IFS

Where you planning on running this prerunner in CO?

There is a decent selection of trick IFS parts availble for the kick too.

one of the local guys likes to drive his zuki like a pre-runner/baja truck. He's always tearing up $hit on his zuki......as long as he keeps paying me to repair it I'll watch him go

its kinda funny to watch him go over the bumps in the trails and if you got the balls to get in with him its a really scary ride.....he's always got it to the floor and really can't drive.

the samurai is too short to go that fast and the rear end comes up and looses grip and you go all over the place.......would be better if you had some soft suspemtion with some major travel

take lots of pics if you do it...good luck.

It sounds to me like you have you ideas bassackwards.

Toyota has a HUGE following in the prerunner world. Second only possibly to the Ranger. Build the Toy into a preruner. You'll be much happier than you will with any Zuk Sammy for that application. Suzuki, from what *I* know, has virtually no support in that market.

On the other hand, zuks are small and light and quite stable with a little WB extension for a rockcrawler. They work well in this application. You'll never be truly happy with a pickup on the trails because they're too long and have too much body to damage on the rocks. That's why everyone crawling Toys is going exo/buggy/flatbed. But they kick ass as prerunners.

Then why not put ur Sami body on the Kick Toy or Ranger ? Much easier and like others have said, Rangers rock for that application and Toys have thier spot too. Use ur Sami body on any of the above and "PRESTO" , ur different :flipoff2:

PS - as far as " how do i do this ?" , if you have to ask your simply not qualified to be doin this type of work. Dont take that the wrong way. Its high speed offroad we're talkin here. Steering is a MAJOR issue. You dont have a death wish, do ya ? :skull:

Pre-runner IFS Zuk?
Wow, let me know I want to video tape.
Short wheelbase, high speed, oh yeah - 'When good times go bad" written all over it.

The short wheelbases are a handfull to drive at high speeds on loose/slick and rough surfaces. There are times that I have compared mine to riding a greased beach ball.

Samurai's have everything wrong for that application
Short wheel base
Low horse power
Poor steering characteristics
Poor suspension
Weak axle tubes

One positive, is they are light and easy to roll back over.

I would look at putting the body on a different chasis if you really want a samurai pre-runner.

I'm surprised to see that Camini is producing anything new for suzuki's. I even more surprised that it will be "Bitchen".

No, just drove by and they were in the process of building the kit.

Mike Hagan built a "double A-arm kit" for his a couple of years ago using two sets of the tubular Calmini A-arms. Worked pretty good when I saw it at the ZookiMelt and handled the bumps really well. I agree with SHROCk .....trade it in on a Sidekick and start beefing up the IFS ...ALOT! ... like the guys on ZukSpeed.

You will always have that short wheelbase narrow track issues with a Sami but...

Look into a custom Ford twin I-beam front suspension. There are kits available to build a one off setup. This would be your cheapest and easiest way of putting IFS onto anything. When you get into true IFS (twin A-arms), you are getting more complicated.

I vote for keeping the T100 and putting some Blazeland longer control arms on it. You will need custom length half shaft parts (not the CV's, just the middle portion). Then you could do a custom rear width housing (ford 9" or maybe even a late model Tundra). You would be pretty wide but that's what fender flares or fiberglass is for.

You would be light years ahead of some Sami IFS conglomeration.
