I'm in the market for looking for a 4in. suspension lift or any lift to clear 33's, any good recommendations? I looked at jeepreviews.com but I can't rely on just those reviews. I originally wanted to go with Skyjacker but it got bad reviews from jeepreviews.com. Black Diamond and Old Man Emu got the best reviews. What is everybody else's opinion?

Buy the RE kit if it is leafs. Don't know about the coiled Jeeps. Do a SOA if you know what you are doing. Excellent start for someone new.

it's a 2002 TJ...i only want to go 4 in. high or just enough to clear 33's. I don't plan on doing anything major like rock crawling, I just want a good quality suspension. I want a basic kit that will still allow me to add major upgrades later.

Rubicon Express 3.5" superflex

you might get lucky and NOT need to replace your driveshaft and TC output with a slip yoke eliminator kit.

if you go to 4.5" you most likely will.

if you dont wanna spend a grip of cash, and wanna look sharp at the mall, get a 2" budget boost and 1" body lift. that should be < $400 and can be installed in the driveway on a saturday if you are mechanically inclined. its the closest to stock suspension geometry without spending 4x that amount... its not gonna be an offroad monster, but thats not what you're after, so...

I don't need an off-road monster just yet but maybe somewhere down the road. I'm not really big on body lifts unless I really need it just to clear the wheels. I am pretty mechanically inclined, I'm in the Navy but I have never really messed around with Jeeps or suspensions before. I do plan on taking the Jeep through certain places with rough terrains, I'm big on surfing and I like going to a few deserted beaches where I can take a Jeep to and I also do a lot of outdoor activities away from normal roads. However, I want to use the Jeep as a daily driver for a little while too. I don't want anything big right away like parts to flex or what not, but I do want a good quality suspension.

Go with RE 3.5 or 4.5 LA Kit . It cost a bit more than your standard lift kit but you'll be happy with the results and you won't have to change your mind later and spend additional money. Also as far as installation... I put the 4.5" tri-link kit on my TJ and it handles better, rides smoother, and its offroad capability is awesome! I drive my Jeep 500+ miles for some runs I go on and couldn't be happier! I am also running 35s with no problems! I would just go LA the first time and you'll be set! Take a look in the "Vendor Forum" and PM FullsizeXJ... He gave me a killer deal on kit, shocks, and drivelines! Just my 2 cents! Good luck!

The RE long arm kit is a little out of my budget. I don't plan on putting long arms until later on. I'm looking for a complete kit with shocks and everything. Any good reviews or advice on the Rough Country kits?

A couple guys here run the basic 4" Rough Country lift. They seem to be happy with it, but they aren't intense wheelers. If you're just looking to get it up a little and run your 33s then I say buy the Rough Country kit. If you plan to do more than 10-20% off road then go ahead and spend the extra cash and buy the Rubicon Express 3.5", you'll be much happier with it off and on road because it will ride and flex better.

bds makes a good kit for a tj now. i think it is a 3.5" kit. they are lifetime guarantee if that matters.

i run bds 5" leafs on my yj and love them.

3" lift, stock arms, 1" body lift, 1" motor mount lift and good shocks. (monotubes not twin tubes)

For 33s, you really don't even need the body/mm lift, but that does help drivetrain angles and may save you money for either not having to run t-case spacers or a SYE and new driveshaft.

I went with the Rough Country x-series. I heard a lot of good things about them and they didn't cost as much. The only drawback I heard was that the instructions weren't that clear.

and they ride stiff as fuck. They are cheap for a reason. Send that shit back, or call up your chiropractor now and make an appointment. Notice how nearly everybody in this thread said Rubicon Express, or even BDS....

Rough Country has their name for a reason..
