The passenger side tube is so short (shorter than chevy) that Im worried 38" tsl's on 10" wheels will rub the spring or frame unless I run some serious backspacing.

Obviously I havent mounted the axle in my CJ yet but I was doing some measuring on it today and ran into this possible issue.

Anyone know if the shortness of this axle will be an isse when running larter tires?

If someone is running a dodge front axle please share specifics about your setup...ie, tire size, vehicle, rims, running full width or cut down and if you are having clearance issues.

thanks

I run a 79 dodge 60 on the front of my land cruiser. The short side is stock length, I cut down the long side to match the cruiser spring width. Overall it is 62" wms to wms. I run 38 tsl's on beadlocks with 3.5" backspacing and don't rub the springs. You should be fine with that setup.

Same for me too. Stock short side, 2" offsets, 38's, plenty of room with 62"WMS.

yeah I had to cut mine down as well so it would bolt on to my YJ

mines a full width Dodge 60, but weird, so I don't know how much it will help you. Dually wheel hubs, hummer rims. No clearance issues and they don't hit the coilovers. :)

When I had leafs, they did hit the leaf spring bracket on the back on full compression, full lock, but just barely.

It's an FJ-40

if you look close, the u-bolt is on the third member as opposed to a gm one that is on the axle tube(at least the 44 is). the third member is offset farther but the spring sits just as far inboard as a gm housing. i think the dodge is like a 1/2" wider spring pad-spring pad.;)
