Went for a sunday drive up to Lake Wenatchee Sunday. Just crested Stevens Pass, and headed down, as in about 15 seconds into the downhill. I had been watching my speed, and I crested at 60mph. But, I was looking at the peaks and not the speedo. It evidently quickly crept up to 70. I saw a state trooper coming the opposite way, glanced at my speedo, and knew I was busted. I changed to fourth to start slowing, but he already had his lights on. He was pretty cool about it. Asked if I knew how fast I was going. I said nope. Busy looking at the scenery. He told me 72 in a 60. I said. Ooops. Sorry. Asked if I had any reason for going that fast. I said nope. Just paying attention to the mtns. He asks for license and registration. I dig them out of the glove box. He asks for proof of insurance. I find one card and give it to him, but it is from 99. find another, it is from 2000. Nothing more current.
He takes license and registration back. Meanwhile, I am sweating bullets because my 3 year old is asleep in the back seat, but he took his seat belt off. My 5 year old and 1 year old are both strapped in.
Officer comes back about 30 seconds later and says he is giving me a warning. Watch my speed. Have a nice day.
Whew.
What does my 5 year old say?
"Dad, I told you you were going too fast."
<sigh>
Course, the wifey couldn't holler, cuz she had been telling me I was driving too slow all day <g>
Ah well, warning is not bad. How long do warnings stay on your record in Wa state?
