My old man owns a wrecking yard for Semis' called me and told me he had a 392 for me.

Heads were off, pan was off, missing one piston.

I got to lookin at it and it was WAY to big to be a 392. The cab was already gone and it was sitting in the frame. He sold the cab already and was sure it was IH medium duty truck.

Sorry I couldn't get any pics but....
The Distributor was in front, but had like 4-6 inches of shaft between the rotor assembly and the block. The intake manifold was really wide , i'd guess 14"-15" with the EGR valve on the side. It was 2bble with a slot behing the two throttle openeings.

The T-stat was different. the fuel pump was in the same place but there wasn't the flat spot next to it for the CID stamp.

this sound familiar to anyone?

they make engines all the way up to 504ci.
they are noticably larger than the 392.
put out less hp and weigh a ton.
the 392 is your best bet if torque is what
you want in your ScoutII. I have one in mine. While 304/345's are winding up their
engines I just idle up the same hill.

hope this helps

504? Surely you jest! I looked at a V-220 with a 549cid V8.. and I think there's a 60x as well.

Didn't they make a 504-ish straight six, too? <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

If a 345/392 weighs ~750 lbs. What do you think the 604 weighs, give it to me in Tons.
