Sorry guys but I have searched and searched.....I need opinions. My current project is a yj that will be SOA FRONT with Dana 44 axle, 37- 39 Tires

My question is what spring to use RE 14444, BDS 2"lift spring, stock, or waggy
My original plan was bds 1 or 2'' lift spring but now I am not to sure(I do like the warranty) but am concerned with flex more less STIFFNESS.
I like the RE for a mere 50 more than BDS
But I can FAB and I like Cheap if it works....I do not feel a set of junkyard wrangler stock leafs are the answer

I want some input ........THANX:jeep:

Well, SOA on stock springs is high enough for 37's, and probably 39's too if you're trimmed (but your D44 will be hurtin.) 1 or 2" is fine, but I wouldn't do more than that. RE springs run high for the first few years, sometimes by a few inches. BDS is said to run true to size and be great springs, but I haven't spent any time around em, though numerous other people here vouch for em constantly. Stock waggy's net about 2" of lift vs YJ's, and can get you 2" of stretch too. XJ's can get you close to 6" of stretch, and provide almost 0 lift. Personally, I'd go with stock XJ packs (and will, but SUA.)

What are you doing in the rear? If you keep it SUA, you'll have to use pretty high lift springs, like 6"+, which will be EXTREMELY stiff. If you're already SOA, what springs did you use there? If it's linked, you'll be able to adjust later, no big deal.

OH, and since you mentioned how much you like cheap, I got my XJ packs for less than 100 bones a piece new from carparts.com. You can't beat that.

i use RE and really like them. however i have friends who run bastard packs which are stock packs with 4" mains. in the end i dont think it makes a huge difference. the reason i really like the RE is because they dont give me to much lift. at ride height they only have a slight arch to them.

RE 1.5 will set you up right...IMHO...Unless you want to build bastard packs...Some guys like ALcans..I never used them..I think your going to get up in the fenders so you'll have to trim fenders or build/buy tube fenders though on a SOA, 1.5", and 39" ( for sure)...Or run some long bumpstops, but I dont like to do that myself...Heres why I say you'll be in the fenders...I just barely clear w/ no bumpstop and stock fenders..

Another option is to hit up a local spring guy(If you have one)...We have a guy here who says he can build them to any arch and match them to the vehicles over all weight..So it would be specific to your specs...He said he could be the MSRP RE price, but I SEARCHED the vendors on here and they smoked his rates...So I go the RE front and the RE rear...

I have seen several sets of RE SOA springs either break or bend. And I will say there was nothing that he did to cause this as I was right behind him when they broke. And they were brand new. He had good luck getting his replaced quickly.

I also have had bad luck with my RE 4.5 springs for my CJ. Bent them or they sagged to the point where the Jeep was leaning to one side. My dealer that I bought them from went out of business. Have received nothing but grief trying to get them replaced under warranty. And it has been almost a year. Even spoke to supposedly the right guy while at SEMA to get them replaced. Going through another dealer and still getting nothing but grief.

I am to the point that I won’t buy their product anymore. It should not matter where you buy their product from. The part numbers are clearly seen on the springs and they are hiding behind BS and not being responsive.

Go with BDS or stock springs as they are cheap and plentiful.

I have stock yj springs up front with bottom leave from another pack added to them. In the rear I have xj springs sprung under with the main leave out of a toyota truck in them. I am running 38" tsl's. I love this setup. I think stock springs with a leave added are the way to go.

Well I have seen and heard enough of broken RE 1444 as stated by other members act lift is 2-21/2 at that I could have used my saging 31/2 lift springs. SO BDS or stock???

Yes I am SOA in the front. And I'll have to measure the shackle length in the rear. the fronts are stock. Ill throw some pictures up.
Shackles measure 6.5" bolt hole to bolt hole.

for my SOA set up I use procomps 2 1/2 lift springs. they provided me with good clearance for 39.5 inch tires. (althrough I did trim eccess fender metal)
I choose procomp due to the price at the time. next time I have to buy springs I will look for the ones with open/spaced out spring clamps, the procomp clamps over the entire spring pack which does not give it the best flex.)

I've been using the RE springs for 3 years now with no problems what so ever. They perform well on the trail, and don't ride too stiff.

Ive personally seen quite a few RE springs bend and break as well. I could fit 40s on my Stock yj Bastard packs with a 1" BL and TJ flares. Theres pics if you really want to see you are gonna have to search for them. I think the biggest set are in the TJ flares on a rear CJ thread. As for the springs themselves I just made bastard packs, they had like 8 leafs each, flexed really well, and I never bent or broke them. Best thing, even if I did, main leaf replacements are free and plentiful. Waggy springs are a tad too high for SOA IMO unless you are running 40+ inch tires.
