My old MiG just dont do it on the heavy stuff so I've been looking at picking up a Miller Syncrowave 180SD or 250 series. I got tripped up when I started looking at inverter type welders. They sound like a really good thing - small and pack a decent punch. Plus a lot of them support adding on wire feeders and the like. Problem is I dont know what I'm looking at :emb4: Can some one give me the low down on inverter technology and/or point me to a forum that focuses on welding tech? I tried to find some type of inverter introduction but no luck...

I've seen high end welders such as something you seem to be in the market for (as compared to, say, a Hobart 175) sell for retty good priced used from local Rent-A-Center type places where you can rent tools from.
Might not be a bad thing to look into?
Sorry, but I don't know enough about welders to answer the question you asked. :(

They have a welding talk forum at hobartwelders.com where you can probably get your questions answered. You can select it off the main page and then sort of follow your nose for a few screens. There seems to be a good group of experienced professional welders there and also hobart factory reps. Good luck.
