BrettM 10-07-2002, 04:46 PM man, that's quite the trip to the grocery store  :flipoff2:
here in the lower 48, it's paved to all our grocery stores...:D
Alaska ZJ 10-07-2002, 04:59 PM I think it looks a lot harder than it really is. Only reason I posted the pics is cause they are interesting and a step off from the normal rock crawling pics from the lower 48
nobody20 10-07-2002, 05:02 PM The guy in the green CJ-5 looks too cold.:(
IndyCJ 10-07-2002, 05:15 PM Excellent pics dude! :bounce:
While the rockcrawling pics are cool, I like to see the kind of pics like what you have! For me, that's the kind of wheelin that I see myself and my son doing (if we only lived in Alaska rather than Indiana :( )
Thanks for sharing!
squirriljeep 10-07-2002, 05:46 PM It's good to see others gettin it in their neck of the woods ;)
Wish we had some trails like that down here. If I find water that deep, it's covering 2 feet of Georgia gumbo or moose snot. :(
rockdawgfj40 10-07-2002, 06:24 PM thanks for sharing looks like alot of fun keep it up and post some more:beer: heres to you guys
Alaska ZJ 10-07-2002, 09:08 PM Thanks guys, I will post a few from the rest of the year as well.
I really like trail running. It is a bit different up here in that all the trails pretty much are ways to actually get somewhere (fishing spot, Moose hunting spot etc etc)
cbassett 10-07-2002, 10:51 PM Hey now! The trails down here lead somewhere too: lunch spot, drinking spot, camping spot, drinking spot... ;)
ROCKRICER 10-08-2002, 12:02 AM I agree.........Some refreshing terrain shots, any side shots of those rigs?
Alaska ZJ 10-08-2002, 10:26 AM Not many Action shots from the side but here are couple.

1248bullitt 10-08-2002, 10:41 AM sweet pics dude.
Jeepmangled87 10-08-2002, 10:47 AM I think Alaska Wheeling would be awesome, but I think I would get lost, so I would need a guide for sure:D
scoutver5.7 10-08-2002, 12:41 PM Knock it off already,
I miss Alaska enough as it is without you goin' and showin' pictures of wheelin' there.:D
Bought my first Scout there in '77, a '75. Learned of the necessity of lockers and a winch the hard way. Got stuck in the GAWD AWFULLEST places, where it was a LONG walk out. Loved every minute of it.
Alaska ZJ 10-08-2002, 03:38 PM Sorry man, I will refrain from posting pictures such as those above and those below........(where you stationed up here)
To all others, I am glad you enjoy them.

bgreen 10-08-2002, 09:17 PM Hey brentt, can you enlarge those pics some more? Im still having a hard time reading the tires sizes :flipoff2:

Frank, he was not following my 31 inch tired TJ over an ice shelf on the way out of Ruby :flipoff2: .
Alaskan Assassin 10-09-2002, 08:22 AM Yah, I remember that night. The 44 and 9" went:nuke: Thats what you get when you combine boggers and V8 power.... When you put boggers on, you have to build around the tire:flipoff2:

Got married, bought a new CJ-5 and a week later got orders to Elmendorf. Avionics maint. Worked C-130s and F-4s. Drove up the Alcan in October with everything we owned in the back. Not the best choice of vehicles for that trip.
Sold the CJ at a profit and bought a '75 Scout with 304 three speed with National springs and 11.00 Armstrong TruTracs. Swapped in a four speed and added lockers to both ends. Later swapped the front locker for a tru-trac. Handled much better.
Drove it back down the Alcan in October pulling a 20 ft trailer. Much better than the CJ.
The worst weather of either trip was going over the Rockies on I-80 in Wyoming!
Sold the '75 and bought a '77 with a 345. Still have it. Over 350,000 miles before first rebuild!
Great Pictures. Keep 'em comin'.
Alaska ZJ 10-09-2002, 04:52 PM A Frank, Joe, or whoever is posting under AA name right now. That 30 holds together, but just barely. He tossed the driveshaft on the Perm that evening.
Oh and I think he drives with a little more sense than you too..........:flipoff2: Boggers are overated.
Now stop dogging on Crazy5's CJ. You know the motor that is in that thing and if you don't then all the more reason for you to shut your mouth.
Brook- Yah I suppose I should have sized those. Oh well. You coming up this weekend? I am going out but don't think that the wife and kids are so I have a open seat if you want to ride along.
BJ- You coming to the park tomarrow? Gonna run this weekend? Frosty, Badco, Highlander and I were talking and want to run with a small group to the Rock Gardens........ Just to see if us Alaska Boys can handle the rocks......
Alaska ZJ , Sweet pics. It really is nice to see different kinds of Wheeling.
We all have our own kind. And yours I dont think anyone will disagree, (even on this site) is quite scenic.
That final destination one is a great desktop pic for my computer. Thanks.
Wheeling in deep cold water must be intresting too. Cause if you stall. how do you fix it without getting wet. BRRRR.
Alaskan Assassin 10-09-2002, 07:21 PM Boggers overated  Your just mad cause you cant run them:flipoff2:
Frank
Alaska ZJ 10-10-2002, 05:39 AM Frank, I said that just to see if I could piss you off. No harm man. We all know boggers are the Shiznit.
As soon as I am done replacing my front end I might be able to run them. But by that time I will be in the lower 48 and if I get stationed in the Southwest I think I am going to use the 37 MT/r's.
Wonder how the Bogger holds up compared to the Terra????? In out environment.
Oh and a few more pics.

TopGun Dave letting the trail swallow his MT/r's.
Alaskan Assassin 10-10-2002, 09:12 AM I said that just to see if I could piss you off.
I know:flipoff2: Boggers have worked the best for us up here. But, if you are moving down there I would say MT/R. Looks like that is the choice of tire there....
Frank
Gr8Pumpkin 10-10-2002, 11:06 AM Man I agree 100% w/ Bert. I love to see pics other than just rock crawling. Don't get me wrong, rock crawling is great, but change is good. Plus, I love crossing deep water. I always manage to get myself in trouble when i find deep water!!
NOTPRETTY 10-12-2002, 09:25 PM Beautiful country...How much longer before its frozen solid?
NOTPRETTY 10-12-2002, 09:28 PM Where are the pics from approximately anyway?

Hehe, once you go numb, you hardly notice!!!:D
About the never thawing...he's right. We call it permafrost, I think around Anchorage it's something like 10 feet down before you hit ice, but up in the country, you'll turn a rock over and it'll be frozen under it...
Where were those pics taken? Back side of Hatcher's Pass?
I'd really love to go to one of your club's meetings, if only my junk would get back out of the shop so I could drive it again:(
