well ill start striping the axles tomorrow, i have some questions on my setup.
im looking to 4 link the front but keep the rig as low as possible, can i run the top links parallel an angel the bottoms, or just run a 3 link with a t-bar?
the 2 yota axles i have are 8in hi pinion with 488 gears. i do have a set of yota 9.5in axles. Do go with the 8in hi pinions or the 9.5in for beef.

I'd go with the 9.5s unless your 8s are seriously built.

Are you gonna keep the rear axle offset or are you gonna center it?

Wered you get the adapter for the tcase at?

And is that a 4door minitruck in the back? If so details

the adaptor is from here if all is right it should work on yota & Mitsu auto trannys too

whats the stock wheelbase?
what tire size?
frame height from the ground?
do you want to slide it over obstacles or have the clearance?

That will determine wheelbase. 102 sounds good to me with such a small length of body

ok im going tomorrow and ording my tubing for my 4 link.
the goal for the 4 link is to run the upper link parallel and the bottom will be angeled, the size is 2x2x.25 wall.
the end of the links will be inline with the t-case ujoints when they are cut. will i need to run a track bar with this setup?
this will be my lower setup (I think)
Combine your lower link and coilover/shock mounts and save space with this ultra strong self-jigging design. For shocks with 1.25" mountng width. Link mount provides 3.0" mounting width for use with our Ultra Duty 3.0" Ballistic Joints with 3/4" bolt holes. Angled at 22.5 degree for triangulated suspensions. Cut from .250" plate steel. Shock hole diameter is 1/2". Price includes 2 bracket sets. Available for 2.5", 3.0", 3.25", 3.5" axles. Part # BRK-1059-51. More sizes forthcoming.

Sorry i didn't post up bout the 20 in my montero but i saw you were keeping the v8 then didn't worry bout it. BUT now your going 4m40:D That is a pic of my dana 20 mated up to the mitsu km148 it is a different tranny than whats behind your 4m40 but i see you have swapped over the jeep tail shaft housing so your on the right path. I used a advanced adapter for the d20 to 23 spline jeep(short shaft) its recomended that you seal up the weep hole on the tailshaft housing as the new spud shaft may or may not seal up and you'll have tranny fluid leaking out.

1uzcj3b
03-20-2010, 06:38 PM
where is the weep whole

lordtrunks
03-22-2010, 12:43 AM
I'll have it apart this week and i'll post up a pic for you, but the weep hole is in the tranny tail shaft housing its a little pin hole.

03-26-2010, 07:58 PM
Well camera pic didn't come out well and i put it all together so I made this gay drawing in paint to show the weep hole and possible breather input hole from the tranny that need to be sealed. On the 4cly trucks the breather hole isn't cast inthe tailshaft housing they just put a 1 way valve on the tranny, but on the v6 they snorkeled it into the tailshaft housing. YOurs may or may not have it but i put it in the drawing.

Another thing for you to note is the adapter at least on mine will only bolt on to the tranny with all 6 bolts one way but its not marked you'll have to figure it out, so do it before you bolt it on the t\case and mark top and bottom.
