i am thinking about turboing my 67 k10 and i was just wondering how people think they would do on off road applications (mud, sand) iam looking at doing two small turbos for quiker spool for example http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHEVY...Q5fAccessories
Snowbird13 02-15-2010, 07:28 PM If you are doing mainly mud and sand, then turbos should work good for you. Maybe not the best in the rocks, but still doable.
timothyalderson 02-15-2010, 08:26 PM Theres a couple of guys on the BB that run Turbos. My self included. Mines single. I like it. It almost like having to engines sometimes. When I'm putting around logs or rocks or whatever its low power so I dont have to worry to much about breaking stuff because theres no boost, even if I blip the throttle to get over something. But when I start getting into the throttle like in mud it comes in hard. If i get enough voted for TTC this year every will see for them selfs.
trkklr77 02-15-2010, 09:29 PM meh, there are plenty of ways to get the same or more power without all the exesive bs that comes with the turbo setup.
timothyalderson 02-15-2010, 09:58 PM Ahhhh your right. And i think i would have gone a different route. But I did it because I was told It couldnt be done?? It wouldnt work on a 4x4? etc. But i must say the look on peoples faces when It spools is Priceless...
the_experience3006 02-16-2010, 12:10 AM I know it seems more practical to run twin turbos on a V8 just as far as the layout is concerned, but a single turbo is going to be easier to design for and more reliable.

it all depends on how you do it

i would like to see pics of ur setup. I have been thinking of doing a single turbo setup on a sb i have
timothyalderson 02-19-2010, 03:07 PM Cheap and easy. I just flipped the headers upside down to start with. Im going to redesign it after I get the tubing done. Custon headers adn mounting brackets for everything.

BULLSHIT!!!
Lack of tuning will do this.
Here's a 1200 horsepower turbo sand truck. It looks like a lot of fun to me...

I just wish we had sand to play in around here. I'd be all over it.
trkklr77 02-19-2010, 06:09 PM i have many pics of stock bottoms blow to smithers without boost. look at a stock piston to a hyper or aftermarket stock replacement, not even comparable.

So youre sayin excessive boost isnt hard on a stock bottom end?:homer:

There are limits, but the limits are much higher than what most people would ever believe. When dealing with stock shortblocks/parts the biggest thing to remember is that there is a lot more variation than there would be with a blueprinted motor built with good parts. Essentially, some motors will hang in there better than others.
700+ wheel horsepower has been done on bone stock, cast pistoned bottom end 350s. The key here is not to let the motor detonate, but that takes tuning skill, and the restraint to not get too greedy with the power.

do u have the rad mounted in the front still or in the bed. If it is not mounted in front do u think there would be room to do so but maybe use a pusher?
timothyalderson 02-19-2010, 09:43 PM Uhh ya. I had room to. I just didnt think all the heat from the turbo would have been good on it though. I already had it mounted in the back.
