: Waggy Springs vs. YJ Springs vs. Toyota Springs

I'm getting the parts together for an overhaul on my Jeep, and going to go SOA. I was considering going with '85 Toyota rear leaves all around because their center pin is only like 19.5" from the pin to the closest eye, so it will drastically improve approach/departure angles. However, the two problems with them are they are 2-3/8" wide instead of 2-1/2" wide, and they are really soft, so I was thinking of running those Toyota springs main and second leaf, and then put some leaves from the Waggy springs under them. I'm hoping they will flex the best because they are the longest, but are the main leaves going to be way too weak on the Toyota main and second leaf, and any problems running them with the Waggy's underneath that are 1/8" wider?

If this sounds like a crap idea, then I was going to go with either Waggy fronts all around (probably 7 leaf), or go with Rubicon Express YJ 1.5" SOA springs all around. I heard the Waggy's give about 2" lift, so hopefully they will be similar ride heights between the two different spring types for comparison, but then my main focus is which will be more durable, and most importantly, which will flex the best? Anyone have flex pics of 1.5" YJ RE SOA springs on their rig, or front Waggy's flexed on their rig? I'll be shackle reversed in the front, fyi. Let me know what you think and which way I should go (Toy/Waggy hybrid, Waggy 7 leaf fronts, or RE 1.5" YJ SOA springs). And any/all pics always make the thread more fun. Thanks guys.

Any of those would be fine, depending on the application. How big of meats are you running?

Running 36" bias Iroks on 15x7 allied beadlocks, so 8" wide wheels total, so the tires measure about 36.5". I'll do at least 1" offset spring perches, contemplating 1.5" offset spring perches, but is this too much? I'm hoping for as close to 90" approach/departure as possible, while also maximizing flex, but don't want to break springs all the time, so that's the only thing that makes me just a bit hesitant on the Toyota springs, I don't know if running the Toy main and second with Waggy leafs under them for a hybrid 7 leaf pack will be too soft, or the main and second from the Toy will be too weak, or if it'll be fine...

IMHO you are running the smallest tire I would ever go SOA on. With that said, I'm not sure about the Toyota springs but in SOA configuration you can run 40s with the waggys and RE springs. You want to keep it low low low. I think the REs are the lowest of the two and once they "settle" should be close to 0" of lift. The 1.5" is built in because the eyes are under the main leaf as opposed to over it. Hence just by doing that you lose about an 1.5" RE springs are the way to go IMO

I run waggy front springs on mine with the bottom leaf out and
replaced the second leaf with a cherokee main leaf making a
military wrap at the fixed end.I havent bent a front main leaf yet ,
before it was everytime. Still flex's very nice and after it settles the
rest almost flat with a little arch on them.
