: please help me identify this jeep
MattS 10-07-2002, 09:18 PM I don't have a clue one about old Jeeps but I have drove past this one too many times and I have fallen in love! :D I think it's the same one they did the buildup on that TV show "TRUCKS" or whatever it's called. It was a bright green. I saw it on a commercial for the show a few weeks back. Anyway, I'm trying to buy it now but would like to know what it is, how much it may be worth if it's rare. It looks to be in fairly good condition for around here. Meaning no "holes" rust just the surface rust from the sun baking the paint off. I have a spare set of 60's and I'm thinking that next winter this would make a great project for an LS1/60's/38's daily driver. :D

It's a Willy's wagon. Good luck with it. http://www.jeeptech.com/models/willys-wagon.htm
CJ5-Man 10-07-2002, 09:46 PM I don think they are that rare. I see those in yards all the time here in Texas, sometimes they are the only 4wd in the yard.
If its a daily driver with 38"s why waste a front 60?
fawk, use 10 bolts front and rear if its a daily
:flipoff2:
Bald1 10-07-2002, 10:28 PM A buddy of mine just chopped up a waggy frame and put an old willys panel body on it. It was the easiest way of upgrading the running gear. That's all....I have no info for ya otherwise:D
4Bangler 10-08-2002, 06:01 AM Willy's wagon, looks to be early 40's, but I'm not sure, I can never remember what years had what grille, but the later ones had a more pointed grille with horizontal bars across it. Some had really interesting rear seating in them. I just looked at a '48 that was quite solid, with an SOA on stock axles (yuk, but it looked cool) and an original '67 Mustang 289 Hi po that was swapped in in the 70's, I would have bought it just to have in my yard, but they wanted $3000 and it sold before I could get a second look at it.
MattS 10-08-2002, 08:22 AM Thanks for the info guys. I'm trying to get ahold of the owner now and see what he wants for it. Hopefully I get to drag it home. :D
Anything to keep from getting the Toy done:shaking: :flipoff2:

Swap 4.3's with ya:D
$3000 and it's yours. :flipoff2: motor/tranny/intercooler/wire harness
Then I would have to get 60's and all sorts of other BS. I'll stick with mine:flipoff2:
Rockcrusher 10-08-2002, 12:01 PM It's a '47 to '50 2WD model with a bent grille. The frames are all the same so converting it to 4WD shouldn't be to big a problem. The rear axle is probably a flanged 3.73:1 D44 with a centered pumpkin. Engine was a I4 or maybe an I6 bolted up to a T89 or T90 3 speed.
The 4WD's had a D18 transfer and a D27 front axle. The rear was an offset 44
'51 to '63 had a peaked grille and pointy fenders and the '60 to '63 had a one-piece windshield.

hey, lay off the procrastinater:flipoff2: It'll get done when it's time:rolleyes:
firegod33 10-08-2002, 04:12 PM I see quite a few of those, rotting in fields. Super cool, but not worth a whole lot, unless they've been perfectly restored, to original.
You got the Bronco out of the driveway, now you have room for another project, eh? I haven't got the cats on, yet. Need exhaust adapters. Don't have the $$ for a whole new exhaust.
Oh, yeah. We watched one of those bash it's way through a trail, last weekend. It lost it's brakes at the very beginning, of the trail.
MattS 10-08-2002, 04:16 PM Heck no! I rented a 20x40 shop that also has 2 parking spots. The 28 foot trailer is at a friends farm so the driveways and garage is empty! By Saturday my garage won't even have any tools in it. :D
firegod33 10-08-2002, 04:21 PM 20x40 shop?!?! :flipoff2: You're making it tempting to make the 500 mi drive to work on the jeep and Bronco! :D
