Anyone heard anything about the 4.5" XJ lift that Rusty's Offroad sells?

Pros and Cons would be appreciated.

I have a Rusty's lift for one of my SJ's and the quality is good, just make sure you get everything that is supposed to come in the kit. The quality control in his shipping department leaves a bit to be desired. Other than that, I am pleased with the lift I got from him. Bang for your buck wise, his lifts are hard to beat.

The only products I have purchased from rust'y and have not yet replaced with Rubicon express parts is his 1.5" XJ lift shackles.

They are the only thing that really worked well. must be difficult to fawk up a shackle :flipoff2:

So any way if you want to budget boost lift with coiul spacers and rear shackles and you want to wait for fawking ever to recieve it then go with Rusty's.

If you want a lift you won't have to fawk with and will show up on time and last a long time go with RE.

Is the RE 4.5" kit going to have any parts needed not included for a 1988 XJ.

I looked through it and I cant think of anything else I would need, but what do you guys think.
How are the shocks that come with it?

Bozz,

Call Rubicon Express they are really helpfull.

The basic shocks that come with the kits are fine.
If you want to upgrade I am sure they would be willing to help you out with any upgrade.

When you do order it and find out you live in the Bay area they will say why don't you just drive up here and pick it up and save a bunch of cash that would have gone to shipping.

I usually make the 1.5 hour drive to pick up anything I need from them. Sure beats Shipping costs.

that is how i feel about driving to INTERCO, it is only a 30min. drive and it is something else to be surrounded wall to wall with 44 TSL's and BOGGERS's uuuuummmmmmmm

I've seen several instances of jeeps leaning to one side, or the other, after a Rusty's lift was installed. Other than that I can't tell you much about them. My choice is RE, as well.

I have also seen them lean to one side or the other. I had a freind that was trying to get a certain hight out of one of these lifts and originally it was 3 1/2 " higher than what she wanted. Shortly there after they did settle with still 2" higher than what Rusty's said they were suppose to be. They're not real consistant in their quality either.

Whatever you do, DO NOT buy his Add a leaf rear kit or shocks. POS waste of $$$ I have his full 6 STS rear packs and they are OK.

RE can be a bunch of cocksuckers to deal with. i find i get better prices and better service by going through an re dealer. for example 4.5" ZJ coils are 150 retail plus shipping, i paid 150 for mine shipped. i use DC's parts center 540-890-3335

i HAD rusty till my 4.5" lift sagged to 3", then i bought RE 4.5" but it was 6.5" lift when i got done and have been happy every since.

and he did fuck up his shackles IMHO, there is no bracing in the upper part of the shackle
