upon advice from some people, instead of looking at a sas conversion(cost prohibitive currently), I am now looking for some other options on stuffing 35's under my 98 monty sport. I will be onroad with this vehicle probably 80 percent of the time (my lady drives it more then me)
is there a combination of body lift/shackles/torsion bar crank/add a leafs that could make this possible? I have not had much luck finding more then a body lift for it,,,, would appreciate any good advice on suppliers on gears, lockers, suspension lifts, etc

thanks

I would say to STUFF 35's under your sport you are going to have to bring out the saw-z-all to fit 35's the rear and will definitely need to do some firewall modifications in the front as well as removing the stock bumper. You can crank the torsion bars but you will still need to clear the tires when fully compressed, this is where the firewall mods come into play.

For the rear a 2 inch lift may clear with minor cutting.

Another thought before slapping 35's on there is your gearing is going to be bad at say the least. I am unaware of a company that makes lower gears for montero sports :mad3: !

swap in 4.90 gears
3" bodylift
2" suspension
cut as much as you want
then see what fits

Where did you find 4.90 gears?

In montero sports.

More specifically, the wide body(fender flare)models from 2000-2004. The 3.0 and 3.5 have different sized ring gears. There is a plate on the upper center of the firewall, that lists the ratio.

It was a quick reply or else it would have been accompanied by one of these :flipoff2:

No real reply is worth a damn on pirate without the :flipoff2:

If you do buy gears, don't screw around and just buy the whole rear axle, and front center section/diff.

I've seen 4.90s in 2wd sports too.
