Glendive/Short Pine OHV is a neat place to wheel i hear, Petersen's was there during the Ultimate Adventure, so it must be worth something.
You should do what we all did when we first started looking for places to wheel in MT- get a map of your closest NF and just take a drive, you never know what you might find.

Only "OHV" area I know of aside from Glendive is the BLM Open ride area near Radersburg (near Toston near Townsend)
I wasn't that impressed, but I guess it is one place I could take my race truck to fool around in at some point.
The GF club seems to find places to wheel up there - I've never made it up for a trail ride though.

thanks for the feedback. i've wheeled plenty in the NF around here but they close trails faster than you can get to them it seems. i travel to pipestone (butte) quite a bit in the summer and have beening meaning to make it to the blacktail trail. i was just curious about the others and see if anything else is close or worth a trip.

yeah, fresno sounded like pretty moderate but i was told that there may be some crawling on the beaches. lots of boulders or something. sound right?

Lots of people ride at Lake Koocanusa (Eureka) in the spring when the lake is down--lots and lots and lots and lots of sand
