I got a '01 Dodge Cummins w/ 6-speed ect. that I started having problems with. I was curious is anyone else has senn this too.......

On a recent trip the truck started puking coolant. After checking it out, I found a steady stream of coolant spewing out of the back of the head. It wasn't the head gasket or valve cover gasket, but rather one of the small "freeze plug" type caps on the middle of the head.

Anyone else seen this??????????

cheers,

I just heard from the dealer and they confirmed that it was the freeze plug. At first they claimed that there was no way there could be coolant leaking out of the plug, needless to say I was able to chang their minds. They claim they will replace the plug and it will be done tomorrow.

Hey TP,

Not very usual. I've not heard of this happening on others Cummins.

Your lucky the dealer is going to fix it so fast. We had an oil ring let go on one of our cummins one tons at work and didnt get it back for 2 months. Evidently dodge was fighting with cummins about the warranty. The truck ended up with a new short block.
