: What is a Landcruiser Body worth.
SkyMfg 10-08-2002, 11:11 AM We have a early 70's Landcruiser body, its the tub, tailgate, front fenders, skirts, grill, windshield frame, lower step panels under the doors and hood. No doors or top. Its had a sheet of diamond plate wrapped around the rear portion of the body, but otherwise is stock, very small spot of rust in the driver seat area. Its a pinhole, tailgate has typical lower rust, but not badly. Fenders are in good to great shape, grill and skirts are perfect, these were actually sandblasted in prep for restore.
I have the frame as well, its all stock except for a saginaw ps box mount.
Anyone who is a cruiser nut know what it might be worth or even like to purchase such a project? It comes with various interior piece's, radiators, etc.
Sky.
FredTheMonster 10-08-2002, 11:57 AM I assume it is an FJ40...
Don't know what its worth, but may be interested (mine is 71 FJ40).
KrustyKruiser 10-08-2002, 01:32 PM Is there a title with it?
helocat 10-08-2002, 03:17 PM I would be intrested as well. Would you sell the tail gate? I am in Portland so no problem picking it up. (or the whole body at the right price)

Doh....yea, its a 40.
No title, its not been registered since 1976, DMV only keeps non registered vehicles on record 10 years here.

Could you get a title? - I know in CA you can get a replacement title - a cop has to come and look at the frame (VIN) - its supposedly pretty easy. Thanks

Same thing here, If I had someone interested, I'd get all the paper work in order.
Mr McGee 10-08-2002, 08:16 PM how much for the windshield frame?

Well, tell you the truth, I'd want to keep the rig together, unless I could sell all the parts, paid up front, seperately. If I was parting it out, who would want what? I called around to a few shops that deal with 40 series parts, most said a windshield frame in good condition was worth $400. Pretty much its weight in gold. I was thinking If I got $300 out of the tub, $300 for the fenders, $200 for the windshield frame, $250 for the grill, headlights, fender skirts, hood, $100 tailgate with minor rust, I'd be coming out OK...Is this insane prices? From calling around the country they apear to be resonable.

Thanks My 40 hadn't been registered since '84 and the last owner lost the title so all I did to get the title in SF was go pay the lady at DMV and the pink showed up 2 weeks later. There was no inspection nor any questions asked, never even asked to see the rig so it could have been just about anything. :D
Hey Sky,
Do you have any pics of the tub, and also its rust areas? You can e-mail them to me. Do you know more about what year it is?

Keith:
You lucked out man. As I hear it from many people who have been down this road, it often entails verification by a police officer, DMV inspector, etc., which is no big deal.
See Ya on the Clean-up Run! Which rig are you bringing?

Andy I can't seem to get the cruiser to run more than 15 minites before I run the bat. dead. No good with that electrical stuff especially when there's a computer involved so I think I better bring the heep. Besides I need to test the new 60/ARB/onetoncv/MTR combo that Progressive Ins. just bought me and I froze my nutz off sleeping outside at the CalrocsDSR events so now that I think about it the hardtop & heater will be a nice little feature to have along with this year being what time of year it is :D
Look forward to see'n ya there...

I've got an extra frame I'll sell you for a hundred bucks, plus shippng. It's an early frame like early to mid 1960, it's in good shape, no rust and straight.
rick d 10-11-2002, 01:09 PM sky
ehm, you need to rethink some prices. In excellent shape:
windshield frames with vents sell for up to $150
1966-1974 sell for up to $150 (there are tons of them)
1975-1983 type frames (bottom motor) sell for $250-$350 (yes, they are scarce) Most dismantlers I know (no, not Specter) don't have anymore for sale. the last two 1979+ I bought (rust free) were $250 and $300.
taiwan fenders are $300 a pair new, OEM fenders are just over $400 new.
used fenders go for $100 pr up to $125 each
aprons have no value
bibs (things with headights) have little value
drop down tail gates go for $100-$300 (higher being real clean) Must have hardware or....
tub:
if 1970, firewall lack of booster fit is problematic
1971+ ok for above
1973 better dash/firewall
...and I doubt your talking 1979 late model tub.
$100-$500 w/ or w/o frame
complete, I doubt $1,000 (who knows). you can part it quick, but the big items (tub, frame, hood) are miserable to ship. Even fenders are H-E-L-L to ship. (prices based on AZ sheet metal, NJ sheet metal has some other value as pigment for red paint)
74_Chevota 10-11-2002, 06:19 PM I need a weindsheild frame also!! E-mail me at Countryboy1105@yahoo.com
Bulldog 10-11-2002, 07:54 PM I might be interested in the tub minus a title. Can you find out exactly what year it is and do you have any pictures of it. I will be gone for the next week or so hunting but you can drop me an email with more details if you can .wtreat88@yahoo.com
