4l60e not shifting

I have a 4l60e and 350 out of a 93 chevy k1500 all stock and the comper is stac as well. I used a avanced adapters kit to adapt it to my np231. When i took it out for a taest drive today for first time it will not shit out of 1st. any ideas? How do i test the speed senser that came with the kit to make sure its working? It is a two wire sending unit. It is not turning on the check engin light so looking for ideas

Today i made sure i am getting a signal to the speed buffer from the vss. ran a ground from batery to top of transmition. still not shifting. i have 1st and reverse. if i put it in 2nd i only have second. move it to 1st 3rd or 4th it goes to 1st gear. any ideas?

is the speedo hooked up?

the reason i ask is when i did that swap i had to put in a new sensor and reluctor(sp?) ring in the tail shaft housing.

Trans codes generally won't set check engine lights or come up with a code in flash diagnostics. Put a scanner on it, go to the transmission section and look for codes and data.

To me it sounds like you are not getting a clean speed signal to the case, thus resulting in the no upshifts out of first in D and OD range.

Manual low is first only
2nd in a 4l60e is second only, unlike a 700 that will shift first to second.

I think Lumpdog is on the right path. Make sure you have your reference voltage etc...

shift solinoids. I have the same thing happen on my s10. Mine had 1st and 4th. had to replace 2.

scaner only shows ac error and o2 not toggling

my speed sensor on my 4l60-E didn't kick in on the diagnostic until I hit about 20mph. The symptoms you have are identical to the ones I experienced when I was having issues with the speed sensor. I had to replace my buffer once already but the only way I was able to check mine was with an o-scope. You should get a nice square wave out of it.
When you are using the scanner you have to specifically look at the signal from the VSS.
