well broke t case in half this weekend, so i figured its time to go manual. i know adv adapters makes a kit for this due to the speed sensor, but its damn expensive. seeing if i have another way around this. also would it be easier to switch to manual trans on top of this?

Just get the manual shift t-case (241) and the linkage out of the same year truck.
Its a straight forward swap.

get a 241 out of a chevy like yours that has VSS. (i think 92+ maybe? can't remember). all you have to do is buy a cheap plug from the dealership and splice your wires with it. make sure you get the right spline input. all 1500's should be 27 spline.
here's some info:http://www.gmfullsize.com/forum/showthread.php?t=154868&highlight=diff+swap
i can't find the stuff on which plug to buy and which wires to splice but it's supposed to be stupid easy

You would need to have your current ECM flashed for a manual. If you do this, make it worth while and swap in a NV4500 or Late SM465 depending on whether or not you need overdrive.
