Has anyone ever thought of cutting the rear doors out of a Travelall and making a vehicle similar to a K5 Blazer out of it? I know it seems there would be no point since they made Scouts, but I think it would make a kewl rig.

To each their own. Just like how I want to build a 77 Ramcharger with 4 doors (off a crew cab), on a half ton truck chassis, and a perminant steel hard top, with barn rear doors. i think it would be cool.. but does it have a point. No. But would it be cool?? Hell Yea

So do you want to shorten the T'all up by cutting out the rear doors, or do you just want 2-door "Suburban" ? I think they made something like that - an older T'all panel..

Or do you mean removing the rear doors, cutting the body, and sectioning the back half back in? I think I saw a picture someone mocked up of something like that - a little short Travelall.

I think it'd be cool, but a PITA. And would you want the top to be removeable? Double PITA.

I was just thinking a SWB pickup frame would help, but it's only 115" (4" shorter than a T'all) and you'd need a shorter WB than that if you cut out the rear doors and move the axle forward.

I've thought more about opening up the rear wheel wells and maybe cutting into the doors for more clearance than I have about shortening up the WB. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Besides - keep it stock WB and you can run dual t'cases with minimal fuss and expense.

I think it would be cool go for it, i have always liked the looks of older ramchargers and blazers. It would take some time, but i think it would be worth it and not a major PITA, its mostly sheetmetal.

Most really cool stuff starts out as pointless projects. Do It, the point is;IT WILL BE COOL <IMG SRC="smilies/glasses.gif" border="0">

See, this started when I thought what would be a good mud truck. First, I thought of a Wagonmaster, which I still think would be cool. But then the thought of a short (~106" WB) T-All came to mind. But one of the cool things about these is extra length does leave more drivetrain room, and I guess the divorced t-case helps if you want to swap motors and transmissions. This is all just speculation really. I'm just a college student trying to sell his 99 Z71 so he can make his Scout more of an all around vehicle <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">
