: Part numbers....changing a bearing help
Keith Strong 10-08-2002, 02:15 PM OK, Go ahead and flame, but I dunno what bearing this is called.
Its the bearing inside the spindle on a Ford F250 D44....the one the stub shaft spins in. Took my spindle off last night and its needle bearings fell all over the place :( Need a part number, but mor importantly....ideas on changing it. It looks like a bitch to get out....do I need a special tool?
cbassett 10-08-2002, 02:44 PM Can't help with the p/n, but that part is just called the "spindle bearing". When I replaced mine, I don't recall them being tough at all to replace. Just a little work with a seal puller and screwdriver to remove. HTH, don't forget to put the seal back on when you're done.
4Bangler 10-08-2002, 02:45 PM Yup, bitch to get out, but a carriage bolt in a vise and a slide hammer type motion with the spindle will get it out. Think like you're a monkey and you've got this real pretty football....
I don't recall the part number, the phrase "spindle kit" come to mind, I think maybe B2110 for the bearing, maybe in a kit with the little seal and everything, maybe BK1 or something like that?
This is all stuff that I'd like to list out in my Dana 44 axle chart, but I haven't had time to research much and input from the board was rather lackluster and unreliable in some cases.
Keith Strong 10-08-2002, 02:53 PM When I figure out the info for my case, I will post it for ya!
Keith 10-08-2002, 08:59 PM SBK-1 National seal number for the chebby. Would the ford 44 use the same size? That kit is about 11 bucks at Napa, and has the bearing, thrust washer, bellow seal, and seal plate.

Exactly what I just got last night...only I paid 8.xx with my discount :grinpimp:
4Bangler 10-09-2002, 10:04 AM Cool, so BK1 was the kit number, what was the number on the bearing? B2110? I think this weekend I'm just going down to my local parts store and ploping myself down behind the computer and printing out every damn part number I can find for all the Dana 44 front axle applications they list, they sell moslty CR and Federal parts, with some SKF, but I'll try to get good cross numbers for all the important stuff. I hope to find some good parts schematics too. I'm getting too old to keep all these numbers in my head.
Oxjockey 10-09-2002, 10:36 AM To get the old one out, I used a washer, my bearing installation tool handle, a 15/16" deep socket, extension, and a hammer. Basically held the washer in place in the ridge, then beat the washer with the socket/extension from the other side. Had it pinned in a vice, obviously. Takes all of 4 minutes.
