Disaster strikes, and you have no preps. Fortunately there's a general purpose survival kit with a multitool. What blades and features would you expect the multitool to have?

Besides water filtration, food, a tent , solar powered light/radio, and a GP first aid kit what else would you like to see in the kit?

I'll say a magnesium block with a flint. It would need to be replaceable but it would be nice.

some MFing porn.

News crew comes by and theres red sitting in middle of the street with his pants going to town with a Hustler in hand. More on the horrible conditions after this man finishes.

Back on target, I assume a marlin spur would be nice.

How about a very small, very loud beeper in it activated by a keychain mounted key fob thing. As I quit buying these after loosing the last 2 I owned, and the wifes! :shaking::(

Just because a SHTF thread doesn't have SHTF in isn't, doesn't mean its not a SHTF thread :flipoff2:

If asking what tools you would like on a multitool is not outdoor and tech related then I'm sorry. I figured there might be some guys on here that might have difffernt features that they like on differnt tools I wanted to hear about those features, especially those that might make a differnce in emergency.

Example my gerber has an eyelet as one of the tools, It was designed so you can use the tool to plumb center ? Is that useful? or a waste of a tool 'slot'?

Tough call on a multi-tool. I used to carry a Gerber and it served me just fine. Otheres preferred the Leathermans, but I found them to be uncomfortable AND the owner is a friggin Al Gore supporter. OTOH Gerbers are made in China so you're picking your poison one way or the other.

Werd.

A SHTF situation without making stuff go all 'splodey is a wasted SHTF situation.

What I want in a multi-tool.
I need a good sharp knife blade, pliers, file, phillips screwdriver, a can opener, and regular screwdriver.

I prefer the "original type" multi-tools. I prefer the Gerber to the leatherman. The larger ones would be handy to carry in a truck glovebox. The smaller one I carried every day out in the woods running a survey crew. The knife, pliers, phillips screwdriver, and file got used the most.

"hey, lemme use yer new leatherman supertac-coolaid-express-titanium-carbon-nanotube-multi-caliber-tool, I'm gonna heat up some dinner"

....."WTF"

....."this POS doesn't have a FAWKING CAN OPENER!!! :mad3:"
