Hey Mike you make some cool looking bumpers:cool:
I have a 89K5 thinking about some tube bumpers for it -- I have seen the ones on the Sub you did and was wondering what a pair like that would run me with a winch mount on the front--do not need a spare tire carrier in the rear though.:D :D
Thank,
Eric.

looks pretty good. I like the fact that its easily removable. Is there any way of lowering or centering the weight of the icechest in the vehical. I'm saying that because the weight of the full icechest and whatever else you put on the back will really have alot of leverage over the suspension. The rear should squat quite a bit and exagerate what ever bodyroll is preasent. I have experience with this.

With a spare tire on there say liek a 35 will teh pass side tail light be viewable? Als with a tire how hard will it be to get gas in it with it all closed up. Another thing maybe to add would be some kind of licence plate mount somewhere cause taht always seems to be teh hardest thing to mount that i have seen on most carriers.

Had a little time to kill huh?
Anyway, I dont see a spot on the hitch to hook up a saftey chain. Also, you could build a small ramp under the latch point to help the swing away up to the point where the retaining pin can slide in easy without having to lift the spare tire up to get. Looks like the spare might burry the pin a bit, and it might be awkward to insert the pin with the tire on it. Tire weight will make it sag a bit. Some D rings would be nice. You could also cut a hole in the bumper and mount rectangular lamps in it like mine. Then you can mount the bumper through the tail lamp holes. This thread has some pics of my lamps http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=67531 . If you did that, then you could ditch the stock tail lamps, and turn the gas can 90*, and mount two of them. How about an antenna mount, a back up lamp, and while you are at it, some BIG WHOMPIN' ASS SPEAKER BOXES! Oh, if the body is not going to support the top of the rack, then some frame gussets on the frame rail is mandantory.

Good point on the toe clips!! ..Its supported to the body and has 4 brackets to the frame... he wants to go up to 36's so the ice chest rack is gonna look a little tall...mabye adj...?? hhhmm
Tail lights you can see and 2 jerrys is overkill IMO...I know Phil ran like 10 but thats crazy phil...:flipoff2: I figured the hitch was the most used tow point for wheeling?? NO?? I only used my d rings to tie stuff down...Tail lights are a good Idea and yes you can see both sides...we did the flush mounts on a TLC and they are kinda low under the tire...crx can see um but big dorky trucks cant... Hell most of the jeeps I have ever seen dont have working tail lights anyway! LOL..... The bushings we use are just wranglers but they dont deflect much at all... over time we will see but they can be replaced for 6 bucks in about 10 seconds.....I will be adding saftey chain points today... THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks cool - I like the dual swing-gates.
I agree with the need for ramps or feet for the gate to rest upon. It will get even more sag with the cooler rack removed.

Nice work Mike, excellent departure from the norm, I'm now re-thinking my new swingout plans, thanks, like I needed another project.
You mentioned supporting the rack to the body, consider a shackled type mount or some other means to allow the body and frame to move independantly and still be bolted to the rack, that way the body won't crack.

Glad to help you out Mike........
He could always use two can mounts, one for water with a spout in the bottom like H8 used to have, and a gas can.
