I've seen pics of front frame extensions, but has anybody extended their wheelbase more by doing a frame extension at the rear moving your springs back?

on psf4x4's rig we slid 3" channel into the stock frame rails and they stuck out an additional 11" with a bumper on the back of that. we used wrangler springs and moved them under the frame rails. i don't think he has any good pic's of the way it was done. the tube crossmemebr in the rear had to be removed from the inside of the framerail to do this. we slid the 3" channel in about 2 ft and welded it at the end, where the tube was removed and left a 2" hole and we also drilled a few holes up the frame rail and welded it in there too. anyway here is a pic of his rig

also this is a budy of mine who cut and lengthened the frame and body just behind the door openings.

That will work good if 3" Channel will slide in there. Guess my ideas will work.

Any better pics of the red Sami? I can't decide what I want to do with mine after cutting off the body right behind the targa bar and lengthening the frame. In this angle, his looks good.

no better pic's. his is lengthened behind the targa bar like you said. he had a bunch of junk sami's so he used the bed from another and spliced it in to cover the 10" opening he made when he lengthened it. the out side sheet metal was not fixed. all he did was bend a 90degree bend in some aluminum diamond plate sheet and made an overlay for the side. it really turned out well and looks pretty good. i have better pic's but they are not digital pic's and my scanner is a POS.

I think one thing thats been done in most of the pics but not specifically stated is that you really need to move the axle a bit forward to fit in a bigger tire.

You may(not) need to add more frame up there to do it but the front axle CL will likely need to be move up and/or some fire wall cutting....

I actually cut 6" front frame out, added ~4" back, and cut the fender/firewall a bit and will be trimming some more... That along with redrilled perches is working on my junk....

I hope so, however I think it will look more like a shorten'd Toyota:flipoff2:

When we did the stretch on mine we only added 3"s to the overall length but with the spring location and spring selection we managed to get about 12.5"s over the stock wheelbase.

we just used 2x4 rec tubing, cut it right at the high point over the rear axle and streched jai birds to 155 or 118" not set in stone yet. mike

What Axles are you running with the stretched rigs?
Would on need wider axles than the yota to go beyond 100"

I have a spare frame and have a set of yota axles located.
I would like to fix mine up kind of like the high5's.
