Went to the County Fair yesterday and watched the Mud Bog races. Most of the really competative trucks were running NO2.

NO SCOUTS RAN THE RACE. I plan on changing that next year. If I can get together the $450, is it reasonable to run a NO2 system for an extra 100 HP?

Have to buy lockers first..but after that...

FWIW a stock 1976 Chev 1-ton dually 2wd with 3 motors strapped on back for weight actually made it to the 3rd round when in the 1st race his compeditor blew a u-joint, and 2nd race compeditor stalled....

any way , my money better spent elsewhere on the rig?

Nothing wrong with some NOS on a 'Binder. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Worst part about the mud is the clean-up. <IMG SRC="smilies/puke.gif" border="0">

When I went to load my rig up after the mud-bog on the 22nd, I had to pull the dust cover and stick my hand up inside the goo-packed flexplate to remove some of the mud from the starter so it'd start.

When I got to RMIHR (after two $20+ trips to the car wash) I ended up replacing the starter before I could play at all - it had rusted.

Not bad for a starter I'd cobbled together 2 years ago from 4 junk ones in my pile.. and then ran it on my 10.25:1 304. Who says ya need a Mean Green?

I still have mud everywhere on the truck.. frame rails need hosed out for a few hours.. after the previous mud bog, I was still cleaning chunks of mud out a year later.

Remind me not to do this again. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Anyhow.. 100hp NOS shouldn't be a problem. I've known folks that ran more than that. I'm planning a 100hp shot down the road for my race truck. First, a better cage. I may need it.

Hint: spray the rig down with PAM or baby oil before the run.. mud comes off easier. And DON'T forget.. I did.. and YUCKY.

The pam trick is good...

And don't forget that the mud comes off much easier if you get it before it dries.

What was the 70's IH Scout racer name that had the aluminum intake manifold?
Thanks
