How did this go from axles to fags?
The bay area junk yards think there parts are made of gold.

The trick is to go to pick and pull and yank it your self, 100 bones is about the norm.. If the brakes are shot pull them, along with the calipers and you will be charged less in most cases.

Last time I was at a yard looking for flat top knuckles the guy wouldn't just sell the knuckles he made me take the whole axle housing (not shafts or outer) but only charged me $40.00 - He wanted $150.00 for a complete axle.

The key is to not look like you want it at the first price he offers - usually the dirt ball will drop the price right away - and pay cash - they pocket that stuff and will take whatever they can in cash.

Go to p&p on half price day.

Damn, wish we had thes PnP places in Michigan, around here the yards either won't let you in and say they don't have what you're looking for, or if you can see if from the shop they say it's not for sale, or they want $300 for a stupid 1/2 ton 3.08 geared Dana 44 cuz it's got Warn lockouts on it. I usually sell complete 1/2 ton stuff from my private stash for $50 to $100, depending on condition and such, 3/4 ton - $100-$150. I found a private Hillbilly junkyard out in the sticks that said $50/axle If I buy more than 4, so I'll be running out there when I get a chance and stocking up my private stash, mostly 44's, 14-bolts, rear 60's, and some OLD Jeep stuff cuz I like that stuff.

Albuquerque yards want $450-650 for any complete front 44. No one is disassembling any more axles here; if they've got something already apart they'll sell individual parts, but if you want something off an intact axle assembly you've got to buy the whole thing.

Any engine is $800-1000.

I've only found one front D60 in the entire state; it's from a Chevy and the price is $1800.

Holy Shit---thats a lot of $$ for junkyard parts---what you ned to do is make a little road trip down here and go to the mexico junkyards---ive seen 44's go for $50 complete, 60 from between $100 and $200 and any rears from $50-$150--of course you you are white they see that and price just went up---so go w/ someone that knows spanish, anr looks like they do-----its sad but true.

You got that right. Great business opportunity for those with the time, motivation and a BFT (big forkin' truck). Just don't let the local yards catch you undercutting them in much volume or you'll be found face-down in an arroyo somewhere - or get fed to hogs, or some other undesirable fate. My day job pays to well for me to screw with that, and I barely have time to keep my junk running and take my kids for a spin.
