First yes I have searched here but I need info on what to do with the stock TJ harness. V8 swaps are common.
I'm about to start on the 5.0L swap and have a stand alone Painless harness for the fuel injection, I need some links or info on how to scab into the TJ stock lighting/dash harness or what to chop out. I know all the stock injection wiring goes in the dump - but any help on what to keep will help a lot thanks.

Did you check out the "TOTM: 302" thread? That might be of some help but I am not sure. You can find it in the jeep talk bible at the top of the Jeep hardcore section.

Well I'm getting some mixed messages so figured so many Tj's have gotten V8's what does everyone do with the lights heater etc... its really nothing to do with the 302 - I have a harness for that - I need to know what to do with the rest of the wires. I'm told I can't run the stock gauges without the stock computer so I have to do a new gauge cluster - but I can't find much info on what do to with the stock harness for the lights, ignition switch etc... I think I'll just hack anything that goes to the fuel injection tomorrow tape it all off then stick the battery in and see what I have left... Worst case a EZ wire chassis harness is only 169.00 and I'll re wire the chassis. I already don't have a fuel gauge as I did a custom tank and sending unit with the pump on the outside. I can use my Baqja 540 GPs for speedo and volt meter so not much to do - tach, temp and oil pressure is about it.

You can use all your factory gauges but the tach is the hard one to get working accurate. Here is my thread on all things about the swap. I coul;d have done you a harness cheaper than the painless. Thanks for the offer and the link way to many pages to filter through and I am not a member of that site so many of the pictures do not show up.

Got a deal from Painless due to my job and it comes with the adjustable computer which I wanted as I'm stuffing nitrous on this one for sand hills. Also my Jeep is pretty nice and clean and the engine build was 5000.00, all new roller top end from comp cams, holley intake K&B forged pistons and eagle rods fully balanced.... I have two stock harnesses but both at 16 years old I wasn't interested in using used wiring I wheel way to much.

Well unplugged all the computer harness and tossed that. pulled out the harnes running to the tranny/t-case/fuel pump, cut off all the injection plugs and taped everything off to start. I guess I could have just left them but I want the engine bay cleaner than that.

Still have everything except:
back up light and 4WD light - to be expected I pulled all that wire out.
Won't have any gauges but that's easy, I plan a dash panel with autometer anyway and will use my Baja 540 for a speedo.

And no excite to the starter solinoid. Pretty good I figure - those will be easy to add back in after hitting stuff with a test light.
